Not sure why people are speculating this may be the South Seas exapansion. TECHNICALLY Pandaria can't be near other islands around the Malestrom (Kul Tiras, Tel Abim, Zandalar) because Chen Stormsnout and his panda gang left the night elves before the Sundering. For those who don't know, pre-sundering is when Azeroth was one giant landmass, the South Seas islands including. So, unless the pandarens just moved to an enclosed place further inland on conjoined Azeroth and it eventually spilt into the island now known as Pandaria, this won't be a South Seas xpack. Of course, they could add south seas islands, but I'm unsure how it'd relate.
This sounds silly. but I'm not gonna bash it until the details are released. Never judge a book by it's cover.

It could be the next expansion, or maybe.... Maybe an new ipad/android pad type mmo. Let's face it, Mists of Pandaria doesn't sound epic to the Cataclysm or Wrath of the Lich King like. It sounds almost like a stand alone game for phones and pads.
I was one who thought the next expansion was going to be the Emerald Dream, there is still mass evil there after all, even hints of an old god. The part of me that really wants to be right thinks that maybe the "mist" could be the mist of the emerald dream but i know that's stretching. I do feel though that they will do an expansion later, and if not that, they will probably do a fireland like patch with it later.
The pandaren race won't be ninjas or samurai, no, but I think the entire continent of Pandaria is going to have a broader Asian theme, and one zone being heavily inspired by ancient Japan is actually quite probable (similar to how Uldum got a heavy Egyptian theme).
People who think it is going to be all about Pandas forget how Blizz loves creating varied themes for different zones in an xpac. And how Blizz loves drawing heavily from various Earth cultures. Somw ild guesses:
A "balinese" inspired zone
A Japanese inpired zone
The obvious Chinese bamboo think Pandaren main home zone
Mongol horseback riders on a steppe in one zone
And so on
Mists of Pandaria can be so much awesome.
Also, what's up with the "mist" hatred? Pandaren hatred I can perhaps understand (even if I think it is misinformed), but mist hatred? Mist is awesome. Kvaldir mist? Awesome. Duskwood mist? Awesome. Howling Fjord mist? Pure awesome.

My first reaction: HODAMN I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED

Panda dk anyone ?? ;p
One thing I'd like to point out in this thread.
Pandaren is pronounced like "Manderin." As in Manderin oranges. Or THE Manderin.
Not pand-DARE-en. Its driving me crazy. Its supposed to be a play on the Chinese word Manderin which happens to also be a place in Asia.

Found this ages ago and as it seems it's true. This had been the Post of Grimar: He found some posts in Forums from 2003 where the upcoming Expansions up to lvl100 are listed. As you should know..2003 was long before the release of WoW. The Draenor Set, formerly known as the Burning Crusade should have been the first Expansion. The stuff listed below are only the zones, not things that will be implemented like AQ, Naxx, Zul'aman ect. So here's the List - Draenor Set Azuremyst Isle - 1 to 10 Bloodmyrk Isle - 10 to 20 Eversong Forest - 1 to 10 Quel'thalas - 10 to 20 Hellfire Peninsula - 58 to 62 Zangarmarsh - 60 to 64 Terokkar Forest - 61 to 65 The Deadlands - 63 to 67 Nagrand - 64 to 68 Blade's Edge Mountains - 66 to 70 Netherstorm - 67 to 70 Shadowmoon Valley - 69 to 70 - Northrend Set Borean Tundra - 67 to 70 Howling Fjord - 67 to 70 Dragonblight - 69 to 72 Grizzly Hills - 70 to 73 Crystalsong Forest - 72 to 75 Zul'drak - 73 to 76 Sholazar Basin - 75 to 79 Storm Peaks - 76 to 80 Icecrown Glacier - 78 to 80 - Maelstrom Set Gilneas - 77 to 80 Grim Batol - 78 to 81 Kul Tiras - 79 to 82 Kezan - 81 to 86 Tel Abim - 83 to 85 Zandalar - 84 to 87 Plunder Isle - 86 to 88 The Broken Isles - 87 to 90 The Maelstrom - 89 to 90 - Plane Set Pandaria - 1 to 10 Hiji - 10 to 20 Wolfenhold - 1 to 10 Xorothian Plains - 10 to 20 The Green Lands - 88 to 91 The Dying Paradise - 91 to 94 The Emerald Nightmare - 94 to 97 The Eye of Ysera - 97 to 100 Deephome - 88 to 91 Skywall - 91 to 94 The Abyssal Maw - 94 to 97 The Firelands - 97 to 100 - Legion Set K'aresh - 96 to 99 Argus Meadowlands - 97 to 100 Mac'Aree - 99 to 100 Maw of Oblivion - 100+ The Burning Citadel - 100+++ You can look up the Zones in http://www.wowwiki.com and you gonna find some background material what is allready in the Warcraft Lore since longer than 2003 if you can believe the forum posts.

Someone explain to me where WoW went from being about orcs, humans, demons etc to pandaren monks from china? I must have missed when the asians came to azeroth and claimed land...wonder what book that was "Wrath of the gold seller" probably...
i'm just... not feeling this as an expansion, personally. at all. hopefully it's just some kind of silly spinoff... or something, idk.
Wow, i wake up to more misinformed, untrue, semi-pointless posts.
The race/class/race isn't a set pattern. It is simply the way things turned out. Blizzard already stated that they are hesitant to add another hero class as they are still having problems managing all the other classes in game.
While it is possible that they will only have the Pandarens as a neutral faction, i see it as highly unlikely seeing as though their own secret homeland will most likely be the center of this expansion.
Azshara will probably be involved somehow due to the naga attacking Pandaria. New mobs etc etc will obviously added and most will probably be new species or off-shoots of current species. (Bamboo Murloc's FTW).
Panda's in-game will pose as NO PROBLEM for China. The rumors of China being against Pandarens are untrue. While they did modify the Forsaken model in Asia to be "Less Scary" they have no problems playing a game with humanoid panda creatures.
You wanna talk about panda's being to childish? How many of you are open to your friends about why you couldn't hang out Tuesday night? How many of you are teens and adults who spend a considerable amount of time playing a game revolving around swords and magic? I don't know about you, but that would sound pretty childish and nerdy from and outsiders PoV.
WoW has always had a comical and original feel to it regardless of how serious you take the game. Look at the companions, mounts (Big Love Rocket?!?! ), and basically any other misc. item in game. WoW has led the MMORPG world by balancing serious hardcore player content and original ideas in the form of sometimes childish, silly, and nearly pointless items, spells, and quests.
I mean COME ON! How can you willingly pay monthly for a game that contains things like Mojo the frog, Super Simian Sphere, A variety of races that we only heard of in FAIRY TALES, and then complain and threaten to quit the game when they choose to possibly add the race/expansion/zone that players have vocally stated they wanted for years because you think pandas are too childish?
