News Flash: They are called Panda Bears for a reason. Just because the news portrays them as cute and cuddly to raise sympathy for the poor endangered species doesn't make them any less bear-like. They can and will still maul you given reason.

I see a lot of this stuff with critters, like people who hate on Koalas. Guess what, a Koala will mess you up in a blink. Don't underestimate the fluffy ones.
