Is LOTRO any good?

in my summer boredom, iv been looking for a new video game to help kill a few hours each day.

I was thinking about Lord Of The Rings Online. since its F2P, there really isnt much risk in getting it. but does anyone here play/played the game and can offer me any insight?

it seems like a pretty fun game, but probally just the same leveling grind most MMO's have. but if the characters/classes/storylines are intriguing enough, i might enjoy the leveling alot more.
