My girlfriend & I were arguing the other day about how to properly pronounce the gooey awesomeness that is caramel. To me, it's spelled car-a-mel pronounced car-a-mel. She's set on her way of car(a)mel & that the second A is silent. So I decided this would probably be a good question to post on a forum, & well now here it is.
I realize it's spelled caramel either way, but I can't just type caramel or caramel. Thus caramel or carmel.

either way, carmel or caramel, it tastes awful.

To be honest I didn't realise anybody pronounced it as "carmel". This is like saying "How do you pronounce boat, bote or bo-wat?"
