HDD installation on my new rig

So on my new rig, I will only have 1 HDD which is:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145287

    Connected to:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-128-494&SortField=2&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Keywords=wireless#scrollFullInfo

I want to confirm where I should be connecting the SATA cable...

Here is a picture of the motherboard:

    M
y assumption is, and I'm pretty sure this is obvious... that I should be connecting this HDD to the black sata outlet(bottom of picture) because it is 3gb/s which matches my HDD.

    Is that a correct assumption?

    ALSO********

for the CPU 8-pin power connector, my PSU has 2x4 pins and no 1x8 pin. Are 2x4 pins viable?

Doesn't matter which one you plug it into.

Basic premise of pc components: If it fits, it works.

I hope you don't give that advice to people who randomly plug in front panel cords into random pin slots, seeing how they are all usually 2 pin connectors

    :P

And I guess there is the whole thing about firewire connections blowing up in USB plugs on your mobo.. But yeah :S

For SATA ports, you hard drive will just run at the slower speed of the port and drive. Same thing goes for USB, PCI(-E), Ethernet and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

So if I put my front panel USB 2.0 connections into USB 3.0 slots on the mobo, they would work and run at 2.0?

The 2x4 pin CPU connector is the same as 1x8 pin. They split it because some motherboards have only 4 pin CPU power connector, so it's supposed to work on both types.
