So I watched Battle Of Gods a couple weeks back, and to be honest, I was abit disappointed by it.
The animation was great and it was good to see all the Z heroes again, but I hated how they tried to throw in so much comedy into it, it really felt like that typical anime cheesy comedy scenes that just overacted things for the sake of laughs. Best example of this was making Vegeta a total embarrassment by sucking up to Berus and performing stupid and cringe-worthy things to please him...which really felt out of character for the baddassness of Vegeta (doing that dance on stage...cmon, really?)
And the whole idea/plot of Berus, a god of destruction, getting so upset that he was going to destroy the planet because...he couldn't have dessert? Like really...?
It wasn't a horrible movie by anymeans, but I think that typical cheesy-cringworthy anime overstuffed it.
Yes, I know the original DBZ franchise had its bad moments too, but the drama and tension felt more somewhat realistic than just getting upset over some desert...

Welcome to Dragon Ball. It has always had it's silly side. Funimation just did their best to tone it down while turning Goku into Superman.

it should be balanced though... I feel its far more silly than action. I mean the fights with Hit and Magetta were the closest the series had to offer so far. So far none of the sagas really had any impact to them... nothing to worry about, no drama, no suspense.

Ok so I just realized something while discussing dbz with a friend
Every villain in Z is literally mega Hitler except for Cell

Cell killed a few cities worth of people


Raditiz wiped out civilizations
Vegeta and Nappa wiped out planets
Frieza wiped out planets and sold them
The androids in Trunk's time line wiped out almost all of humanity
Cell drank some people, like one or two cities
Buu wiped out several planets, and killed all of humanity
