And yes, this goes for both sides. I'm interested in computer upgrades, not the offtopic discussion of the moment.

@Smeesh: Snap, that sounds like a really big difference.

Played Battlefield 2 lowest settings 20fps

    2nd computer:

AMD Althlon x2 2.5ghz dual core
    2gb ram
    250gb hdd
    9600gt nvidia graphics card
    500watt psu

    a. Mac vs PC is still against the rules in the first place.
    b. I'm going out on a limb and saying people are clicking the thread to read about computer upgrades.

And that's my final word on the subject. /shrug

I went from my first computer that I had to myself, a Compaq Presario Dekstop, It had a single core pentiumf at something stupid like 2.4 ghz, integrated graphics, and a 250 gb hard drive. Think it had 1gb ddr2 ram. I went from that to this self built setup, an AMD phenom ii x6 1055t, HD 6850, 4gb ddr3, and (Because I was stupid when I ordered my parts, I had filled up my budget already thinking I had all the parts I needed and forgot to add a hard drive) the same 250gb hdd reused. The difference is like night and day.

Depending on HDD quality, buying a new quality hard drive may also be a new time of day difference for you.

Either you put 2x OCZ SSDs into raid, or you're just bullshitting. No SSDs are currently running 1.2Gbps, highest that a person that isnt in NASA can get is the one i've got at 600Mb/s read/write.

Let's see, my first year of WoW I played on a Dell:

    Intel single core CPU @3.0GHz
    1 or 2GB of RAM.
    80GB HDD
    No video card.

Come about a year later, January 2009... Gateway POS:

    Intel dual core CPU @2.5GHz
    6GB of DDR2 RAM
    600GB HDD
    Added a BFG Tech 9800 GeForce GT 1GB DDR3 later replaced with a PNY XLR8 G.E. one.
Added a BFG Tech 450 watt PSU later replaced with current 650 watt Corsair TX V.1 PSU.

Come on into March/April 2011.... I built my own:

    Intel i5-2500K now clocked @ 4.5GHz
    16GB of DDR3 RAM CAS 9 latency and 1600MHz
MSI Twin Frozr II GTX 560 Ti @900/1800
    Crucial m4 128GB SATA III 6Gb/s SSD
    About 1.5TB of HDD space

That's all that really matters. :P

    Ever heard of these?

But yeah he's probably bullshitting/doesn't know how to properly check bandwidth. Maybe he thinks his 2 SSDs can take full advantage of SATA III 6Gb/s bandwidth. ;p
