Having some difficult with my dual monitor steup

I usually have my two monitors hooked up and they work fine concurrently, and on occasion I will plug one into the my T.V. so i can watch netflix n a larger screen. Recently I plugged my secondary display (vga) into my tv and when i plugged it back in my monitor remained black. I have tried all the basic things drivers, unplugging and plugging back in, restarting my computer any suggestions?

You must have one plugged into the graphics card and one plugged into the motherboard, what GFX you got?

The only thing I could think of was that maybe your TV is 1080p, but your monitor is only 1600x900 or something like that, and your Monitor cant take the TV resolution and the computer isn't defaulting it back. So maybe have it hooked up to the TV, but then reduce the resolution, and refresh rate (since some tvs are 120hz now and monitors mostly are 60hz), then with those set with something that would work with the monitor, switch out the cord.
