I dont get - people still dont understand 10man raiding. You cant just transfer from 25 to 10man or play only one of them without having all the minuses and pluses. If you want to raid 10m you HAVE TO accept that you will wait a lot for loot if unlucky, that your tokens might not drop for a long time and many other things.

Most guilds don't ever manage to clear the current content, so your post is mostly aiming towards the very top guilds, and mostly play for the race anyway, I don't think that they would stop playing just because they got their gear faster.

Why? Give me a valid reason.

This isn't a 10 man only issue, btw.

we have over 20 heroic kills and not a single crystallized firestone. in 25man. just myself i need 4 in total, i'd settle for 2 for my weapons, this is the worst implement i've ever seen blizz do, when i first saw it i thought it was fantastic because i thought with only 7 bosses maybe it'll be a 50-100% drop rate, not this bad, omg blizz.

I still do have a point, your pretentious retort there only encourages me to work harder at shutting you up.

In Borderlands, the items you don't use are simply sold back to vendors to get stuff you can use so you're screwed in that example, I also found no evidence that it would drop things you outright could not use, but even if it does, refer to the start of this setence.

Diablo II was released, what, 11 years ago now? Part of the charm of painfully old games like that is these little nuances, which is exactly what they are you damn well know it.

It would be nice if they adapted the same loot system as Diablo 3 (besides the complete random part) where everyone sees their own loot, however that would lead to people gearing up too fast and not "grinding" away for gear from bosses like we all do right now.
However it would impact their bottom line as far as subs go because people would quit sooner as there would be nothing to do once you got all the gear you needed unless you were an altoholic

No, in Borderlands you can get rare class mods to drop off bosses which you absolutely cannot even equip.

It's not a nuance. It's part of the whole idea. Random loot is random. Like one guy in this thread says his guild gets the tank sword to drop off Beth every week. I've never seen it drop.

    Random loot is? Random.

The problem with random is that humans dont see 11111111111 as a random string of numbers, they see a pattern. In this case that is very unsatisfying :[

I've always wondered. Why don't they just set it so one of each item drops from each boss? May be a lot of loot, but at least it wouldn't be the same 2 pieces of gear every week for a month (it's happened to me).
Would make getting geared easier, less farming.

    But.. Shannox doesn't have toenails..
Just kiddin. Actually this seems a nice idea, because we are tired of getting same Volcanospike or 2h from Shannox every week. In our grp there are 2 pala (tank, healer), dk tank, and hunter - they all got that axe now. Hunter took it cause he liked the looks It somewhat our tradition to give unneeded loot to person who said "Wow that item looks nice"!

I think a better solution would be to have part tokens drop, sort of like valor points - except more specialised.

So - Shannox would drop a token called "Shannox's Toenail', in addition to the normal drops - every player in the raid gets one of these. You can take 10 of them and go and buy any Shannox loot. This means that at worst, you will get your Shannox loot within 10 kills.
I think this is a really clever idea, you'll still have to wait a bit for your loot, but you can be safe in the knowledge that you'll at least get it within a reasonable amount of time one way or another.

It's not the loot system's fault.

It's a result of the lack of content.

Back in Wrath, when raids had 12-14 bosses each, there were two, sometimes more, possible drops to fill a slot. Some examples specific to my class:

    Feral Weapons:
T8: Yogg, Vezax, XT, Freya (4)
    T10: Festergut, BQL, LK (3)
    T12: Majordomo (1)

    Agility Rings:
    T8: Ignis, Vezax, Yogg (3)
    T10: Marrowgar, Dreamwalker, Rotface (3)
    T12: Beth (1)

Huge, huge, huge difference there. When you reduce the number of bosses, but keep the number of item slots the same, of course you are going to have overcrowded loot tables and a scarcity of item alternatives. It's compounded even worse now with reforging and the fact that everything is determined based on raw item level, and so everyone is always fighting for the latest drops, whereas previously it was very frequent for people to pass on an item because something from the previous tier was better for them, or upgrading one item was in fact a downgrade since it would mess up their haste/hit/exp caps.

    Here's a brilliant example.

Me and my guild has gone from 3/7 to 6/7 after the nerfs, which aren't a big deal. But we've been farming 3/7 for 5 weeks before this and every, single, bloody time, the Rogue/Druid/Death Knight/Mage token has dropped. Every single time. We have had 3 other tokens after the nerf, but even so, we've had so many wrong tokens that our DK, Druid and Mage has tokens for their main spec, off spec and our druid even has an almost full 3rd off spec tier set of heroic t12.

Now THAT is just fucked up. I've seen the chest pieces for hunters drop, which I got and then the gloves which our warrior got. Only 1 of our priests has a heroic token. I mean come the fuck on. RNG my ass, this needs a fix of some sort.

I have been tanking with the same shield since the 1st week of cata.... killed nef every reset since like 3 weeks after the launch and only seen his shield drop once (and ofc I didn't win it). Killed baelroc since the 1st week of FL, never seen the shield drop on my warrior. :< I got the feeling I will have my BoE crafter BS shield until the next expansion...

This might sound stupid and donno if any1 already wrote it but anyway.

Just another idea to reduce the option on which item will drop a little bit could be to have like different sets of drops. Beeing either specific for the boss that you have to choose let's say 5 items that should have a chance to drop, while the others won't. Or some kind of loot option in the start where u have x amount of options which each have already set like 5 items per boss (which you obviously would see) and which can only be turned on when it's a fresh run. So if u have killed 1 boss u can't change to another set of drops.

Hehe Im tired and this might not even make sense but w/e, hope they come up with something that doesn't give it all to the RNG gods.

Don't worry, I guarantee there'll be a tanking shield in the new 5 mans.

I'm currently running around in part heroic FL, part FL, part t11, and part ZA gear on my shammy. I think there should be some kind of loot reserve system; where if you're not there one week and the item is going to be disenchanted, you can 'reserve' the item for a player. Meaning that the item will drop next week in addition to the loot that would normally drop.

Obviously it would have to be tweaked and there would have to be rules, but it's annoying as hell when you're looking for one item for weeks; then that one day you're on standby it drops and gets DE'd.
