Plunderstorm is here. Why no player housing or solo mode?

My friend got into the weekend beta this week, and we've been taking turns playing it, but I can't help but feel very let down
The story parts are cool, but not world-shattering, and the combat feels very slow paced, and non-fluid, due to the long GCD
What about you guys?
