    Hard drive question

Noob question. First time I have looked into doing this. I have a 320GB Western Digital 7200rpm HD in an older computer of mine just sitting around, how would I go about installing that into my current pc? Also, what's the best way to format it? I want to use it as a backup for certain files.

Formating it can be done when you hook it up inside windows and it should obviously be formatted as NTFS, in terms of hardware you just need the power cable and the sata connector

You install it by removing the side panels from the computer. Unscrewing the, potentially, four screws holding it in place. Then do the same to the other computer but this time screwing the drive in. Once the hard drive is in place you plug in the power and reader capable. Start up the computer then from "My Computer" right click on the drive you want to format then select format from the menu.
