Trying to get my dps in anyway to be considered for progression fights and to not feel like a liability when I am brought in. Currently pulling around 105-115k on a fight like magera. I dont have a lot of logs since my guild does not always run them and I am a back up. Also Femaledrawf sim is 138k right now

In overall my dps is not so bad. But we have two hunters in group (10H). And second hunter (Sernikk) is better than me. I want to figure what am I doing wrong...

As can be seen in the logs I have a lot of down time, when I run the numbers it seems to average out but am having a real issue with downtime caused by focus management. I recently reforged to prioritize haste when possible bringing it up from 14% to 20% with a minimal crit loss. really looking for some simple pointers on focus management and heroic boss encounters, specifically heroic tortous and duru. An average dps of 145 is what I'm looking for, my down time is huge decreasing my overall dps. Other raids say go by Mr Robot religiously, is it my spec, is it the secondary stats? I have read every guide I can think of and even speced fervor to try to solve the problem, it helps at times but doesn't appear to solve the problem.

Shot priority is pretty standard:
open: murder of crows > stampede > black arrow > serpent sting > fervor > Glaive toss > rapid fire > explosive > readiness > explosive > glaive toss, focus dump with arcane. ( I have found this opening gives me maximum usage of readiness with fervor, where glaive toss might fit up front, giving me an extra one, it creates a need for a cobra shot before readiness and rapidfire burning prepot time.)
standard priority is pretty much common:
explosive, black arrow, and glaive on CD with an arcane focus dump.
Am being told I need to do better dps. biggest issue appears to be downtime. Any advice would be helpful.

Ok, so I run a lot of sims on Female Dwarf and I've gotten my DPS up to around 234k on there. Which is respectable in my opinion. I'm currently 546 ilvl/ Here's my armory.

This is a log from Council heroic. A fight where I've always performed extremely low for my iLvl. Granted at the time I din't have my cloak so my DPS should've been 215-220k.
I really just want to know if there's anything huge that I'm doing wrong with my rotation. I like to believe I get a proper amount of KCs in since I'll delay shots for .5-1 second just to make sure I get it on CD. My opener is extremely strong. Most pulls of Lei Shen last night I was bursting for around 600k without lust. So my opener is great, I just seem to fall behind once DPS starts to even out.

My goal is somewhere around 220-225k. Thanks for any replies you can offer.

Im taking Durumuu as a sample log, because its the only real single target fight in mentioned logs.

1. SS Uptime >90%
2. 52 from 67 possible Kill Commands
3. 23 from 28 possible Glaive Toss
4. Try to get rid of the RoRo kinda sucks as Hunter
5. no 4pc

Rune of Reorigination,Lei-shen trinket,its crap for hunters,get the valor one or wait for 5.4,it seems that you just need to press more buttons atm,and watch Serpent Sting,I suggest Weak Auras or something similar to keep track of it...Also the pieces with no sockets,from HC scenarios need replacing,thats all I think

Well,from what i'm reading in that log,your serpent sting uptime is at ...17%? It should be at 90%+,also Explosive Shots seem low,only 19 during a 4 min 20 second fight,be sure you have enough focus for an explosive shot when its coming off cooldown so you don't have to cast an extra cobra and losing a GCD,and is that only 7 glaive tosses?
You should have at least 16-17 in that duration of the fight if i'm not mistaken.
Really need to get that Serpent Sting uptime waaaaay higher,use an addon like weak auras to track it,you probably didn't notice its gone till it was too late (2 imp serpent stings,that means you recasted it at least once).
Anyway,press more buttons,keep that SS up as its a good portion of SV damage,also don't use AskMrrobot,its weird most of the times.

P.S don't use crows over blink strikes as BM atm (and probably still true in 5.4). Good luck!

Pretty sure you should've done more then 47 KC's,at least 10 more,you also had a few pet misses,not sure what thats about,SS uptime is lower then 90% aswell,think you just need to press more buttons! and time stuff,thats all I can see atm,its pretty late here so excuse me If I missed something.

P.S Also keep in mind that femaledwarf simulates patchwerk style fights,so you probably wont see 234k or whatever you got on femaledwarf on a fight like council with alot of target switching and movement.

Expectations: more dps. only pushing like 100k-120k (both specs) seems really low. use to main a hunter back in wrath on another account and it was all about the weapon, and i have a pretty decent weapon damage wise so i'm not sure if i'm playing wrong now with the whole focus meta change. I do understand some of my itemization is goofy, but eh just seems like it shouldn't be this bad.

His Serpent sting uptime could be better,was 70% ish on that log,should be near to 100% as its easy to maintain on the boss with cobra shot.
His glaive toss usage is poor aswell,could've used it 2x more on iron jugg,only used it 13 times,and its a 15 sec cd,not sure about arcane shot count but you can always push buttons faster!
Also don't know about using Thrill of the hunt without the 2set t16 bonus,I find me doing better with Ferovor for surv/db for BM,but its situational aswell.
He can shift a bit more off of hit to haste with different reforging,also Talisman of Bloodlust is suboptimal for hunters,the Shado-pan valor trinket is much better,also upgrading rentaki's isn't a bad choice,unless he gets something better this week,ALSO get him to do the legendary quests,Meta gem+Cloak is a huge dps gain. Think thats it,unless I missed something.

Buy the 522 pieces from the Shado-pan Assault vendor (chest legs neck ring),also try to get the Timeless version of Xuen or Assurance of Consequence from Sha of Pride on SoO.
Get the Inscription enchant on shoulders (more agi+crit) and get your bracers enchanted,you're way above hit cap,so try to loose some hit gear thats 2.50% of useful stat wasted.
Use Fervor or Thrill of the hunt for surv and Dire beast for BM. Work on your legendary quest chain,Meta gem+Cloak is a big dps boost. Also use a reforging website/tool/addon like Reforgelite (addon) for more optimal reforge,you can loose some hit and expertise and get more haste with different reforges. Also try to read some guides if you haven't played since wotlk on the hunter,much has changed,also BM opener is really important for final dps...
All in all just improve/enchant your gear atm,no logs to analyze so this is what I can say only from armory.

Askmrrobot isn't really that great for hunters,you need to play with stat weights etc there,get Reforgelite addon,much better to use and you can reforge with 1 button to avoid mistakes

I wouldn't be BM for Galakras,I found surv to be better for tower duty due to alot of target switching,I did the same for Dark shaman,Pet kept dying from beastcleaving the small oozes and standing in poison lines so I went SV,I suggest the same,it also all depends on how you do Dark Shamans,our tanks kite it around the space in org,in a circle so pets and people don't get caught in poison lines/ashen walls. Your dps on Iron Jugg seems ok,nice SrS uptime,you just need to manage your movement there,aka disengage back from shockpulse knockback,shooting while in the air if you're soaking the mines etc.

I simmed you in femaledwarf on a 7 min fight and it showed 164284.16 dps,but keep in mind thats no movement and perfect rotation,no downtime,and on Iron jugg you need to move/get knocked back etc so you're probably doing everything ok...

About your gear,i'd get that Terror in the mists replaced imho,either VP one from 5.2 or a new one from SoO,even if it takes you over hit cap its a dps increase atm,you can also get more haste if you switch to vp one and change abit of your other gear reforges.

Get glyphs into you're SV/BM specs aswell,Animal bond/Deterrence/Disengage/Liberation glyphs are all useful and important for surviving (animal bond should be in there 24/7,others are situational). The more times you're alive the more dps you do! :P, anyway thats It I think
