Expectations: I'm always looking to increase my DPS abilities. I feel I'm very knowledgeable on the class but there's always something to learn from someone who knows more. I'm consistently top 3 DPS in my guild and out performing people with 6 or 7 ilvls on me, but I want to always be the best!

Expectations: I simmed myself and got 251k dps on a 5 minute target dummy fight but it seems like I can't hit that unless I get some lucky trinket procs during BW or so. I looked over the common things like CD usage and I found that I had the maximum amount of KC, GT, Stamp, RF, and BWs in that time frame, yet somehow I am fluctuating between 230-240k on my logs. Basically I want someone to look over my logs and see where my mistakes are. I feel pretty comfortable with my skills but if I can figure out where that 10-20k is coming from I feel it could take me to the next level.

I simmed myself as unbuffed and I took kill shot out of the rotation as well. Only buff I had and the one on the sim were 10% AP and 5% crit from my wolf.

ON some dummy, specially the one's in shrine, can make ur pet bug out and it wont cast basic attacks, which makes u miss about 12 ~ 15% of ur total dps. check ur scada/recount if that is the case. u can notice if such is the case while testing, u wont have any frenzy stacks and thus no focus fire.

one question in particular is that I (Grefthor) cast less explosive shots, but many many more arcane shots than our other survival hunter (fatal). We both perform very similarly, but our playstyles differ greatly. Which way is more effective? Am i not casting enough explo shots?

Well you should be prioritising explosive shot over arcane shot every single time, so if you aren't you're doing it wrong ^^

I do that as much as i can, but my logic in certain situations is that, for example: if i have 18 seconds left on rapid fire and have TOTH procs, ill pump out 2 arcanes and pop rapid fire before mashing away my lock n load stacks. Is this wrong? Maybe its also just bad RNG where i don't get many 4piece bonus explosive shots, but i doubt that can be held accountable for such a consistent loss of dps. This week ill focus on getting the absolute maximum amount of explosive shots i can and see how it works out

Expectations: I'm raid leader (warlock in logs) and want to get confirmation of my own conclusions on our raid hunter. I've been playing running my own hunter through the legendary quest at the moment to help try and understand what's typical for BM these days. My own previous experience was raiding Kara to DS but mainly as SV. I have talked to him about his dps and I think it might just be the low KC usage that is holding him back. I have sim'd him upwards of 350k on a variety of fight types with Raid dummy being 381k. Any ideas/advice would be great.

Just a quick analysis of him is showing a few things wrong right off of the bat.

In a 3:29 fight he hit 14 out of a possible 34 Kill Commands. That's a huge DPS loss. He's 1.5%+ over the Hit cap and .5% over the Exp. cap, but it seems he's reforging everything out of Hit that he can so that's just a gear issue at this point.

He's also casting Cobra shot too much. In 3:29 he cast Cobra Shot 47 times. I looked at one of my logs for IJ heroic and in 4:50 I cast it 55 times (and I'm no 99%er). In that same 4:50 fight I had 372k DPS v. his 285k at equivalent item levels. Even taking out some variables, with almost a minute and a half quicker kill than me he should have destroyed my DPS.

He cast Serpent Sting 5 times during the fight which either means he let it fall of 4 times or is just wasting those GCDs - either way that's no good. He only got 6 out of 13 Glaive Tosses off as well.

He only got 4 out of 6 Dire Beasts off (damn near could have gotten 7) and only used Rapid Fire once. Even without the 2pc set bonus he could have cast it at least twice (with all of the Arcane Shots he put down range it should have come up 4 or 5 times).

Basically his CD usage is off, and he could use some more macros. Send him over to Azor's Hunter F.A.Q. thread to look up the basic macros, openers, and WeakAuras. Those should significantly increase his DPS. Then onto a practice dummy to train himself to hit priority abilities correctly.

If I missed anything, my more experienced colleagues will surely let you know. However, that should be most of the basics.

Expectations: 375-405k+ The logs im posting are before i got a HWF AoC .. was using a 4/4 553 AoC. I know my SS uptime is low and should be 95%+ I'm using a WA now to keep track of it incase it falls off. Besides that any tips on what I can do better would be appreciated.

You missed a few KC's, you did 43 when you could have done 48. Not the worst, but it could be better.

This is a snippet from your event log during the fight. During your second Bestial Wrath you used cobra shot twice. I only checked your second BW due to time constraints on my part, but chances are you made the mistake multiple times during the evening, and even on this fight. You should literally never put yourself in a situation where you have to cobra shot during BW. 3-5 seconds before BW comes off CD, you should be pooling your focus to 80-100, ready to dump nothing but KC's, arcane shots and glaive tosses into the boss during that 10 second window. This is a fairly substantial dps loss to be making this error, so really work on fixing it asap.

Expectations: I expect to be over 400k average DPS for most of the fights especially at Garrosh where we push him to p3 before second transmition(Sims show 445k dps)
After i check logs i saw that i have like 20x less casted Kill commands for Gary compared to top hunter and after some research i discover that mine cobra shots casting is way too messy which lead to dealying KC or lack of focus in BW. I also will accept any tips about using Engineering synapse (respec proff 2 months ago)

In terms of basics, you've got them down and the only thing that could be improved is your glaive uptime. Should be able to squeeze out a few more than you are atm.

Now to nitty gritty:

1. Opener

Arguably that's not the best way to open. You're not going to need the focus regen from sting that early since you have RF and probably bloodlust at that point. ES>BA>SrS always.

extremely late (relatively) use of your big cds. They're more damaging than any of your other skills so you want to use it as close to when your trinkets proc as possible. Honestly stampede is the first thing I use after glaives and then aMoC immediately after. You may also consider switching from toth to fervor on single target fights as it honestly does pull slightly ahead.

2. Tracking LnL

You have a very high uptime on BA, but actually on some of the best parses the BA uptime is a little lower. This is because sometimes BA falls during a LnL and unless the ICD of LnL is refreshing within 1-3 seconds you should just keep using ES and ignore BA.

BA does very little damage on its own and rather it facilitates ES mainly, so those 2-3 ticks of BA won't be justified in losing a global for an ES.
