Inclusivity Updates in Dragonflight - Body Type Names, New Pronouns and Voice Options
Dragonflight Alpha brings several new inclusivity updates and character customization changes to World of Warcraft.

Body Type Names
The body type names "Male" and "Female" have been renamed to "Body 1" and "Body 2" in Dragonflight Alpha. This can be seen in both the character creation screen and at the barbershop in-game.

New Pronouns
Datamining hints that players will be able to customize their character's pronouns, although the feature is not available for testing in the first Dragonflight Alpha Build. Current pronoun options include He/Him, She/Her and They/Them.

Voice Options and Inclusivity
In the Developer Interview with Ion Hazzikostas it was revealed that voice options will be coming in Dragonflight.

  • Players will be able to choose the body type and voice independently of each other.
  • The team is proud of the customization options for the Dracthyr race, there are a quadrillion of combinations possible.
  • The game should be as inclusive as possible, so players can customize and express themselves like they want to.

Can't wait to see all the troll-body type/voice mismatch.

Not sure if Blizzard is unintentionally making this more of an insult to these people by under-(or over-?)estimating their community.

    Without offending specific persons
Why not make a option where you can toggle this on or off

I am OK if you want want to be a cat, frog, zebra, potato or gender neutral rock
Would not be OK to change my reality
    Respect comes in both ways

If you feel uncomfortable how you look and sound in game and the options gives to more options fine, but i would feel uncomfortable the other way around
This is effecting you, how? There is a toggle for "on and off", it only effects the person who choses to use these options, so if you dont use them its off for you by default.

Exactly, why should we be forced to play pretend with people we don't agree with or care about?

What, at all, are you being forced into?

But like, you can still pick a masculine body, a masculine voice, and he/him pronouns. No on/off toggle needed, it's still part of the options. We getting mad about *more* options now?

I'll be honest, I have no time for America's current fascination with 1000 genders; but this doesn't bother me in the slightest. Have any of you actually seen how people role play characters? It's a fantasy game and people have been doing odd things in it since it came out.

And that is also by not defining what 'normal' people are - I'm sure I'd get a definition that is absurd.
    Wow, how impolite.

    No, they shouldn't.

A normal person is someone who doesn't constantly feels the need to deconstruct the definition of normality.

Why should normal people be bothered by some strangers gender identity?
They shouldn't, because it is not real.

Toggle option is the way forward imo, those that want this can have it, those that don't can keep things as is. You don't win by forcing changes upon people, change takes time and people are resistant to it but throwing this down people's throats is the wrong way to go about it.

You cant hear other character's voices unless they're in your party.

What do you think this is doing that is being "forced" on you?

Well... but that would still be a thing in group content which, in this game, is designed around random players as well you have never met.
Dunno, I'd probably feel a bit insulted if I actually care about that kind of thing and out of 40 players (or how many are in LFR again?) 33 are supposedly totally trans for real/whatever you call it.

edit: just imagine your whole raid full of female Lalas in FFXIV with that *one* voice set that is extremely annoying.
But now no one is an actual Lala and everyone is playing with the blue-guy model, but with the same annoying Lala voice.

Imagine mass replying to everyone who disagrees with you. You must be one stressed out individual lol

Correct, it was a fantasy game. But now it's a fantasy game that has to adhere to certain very specific gender "neutrality" options that are being enforced by real world issues. Making it not so much fantasy anymore and less enjoyable if you're looking to spend some time away from all troubles.

At what point did I seem upset?
    I really don't care about this non-sense.

But some people probably do, or they wouldn't make this stuff a thing?

Why are you so angry, lol. It's going to be a thing, you just wait and see.

Yes all those great and terrible changes such as .... people who dont like it committing constant acts of violence?
More destroying womans sports and other more unsavory things I'm likely not allowed to talk about.
