Build of the MonthThe Forge
The The Forge takes up a Small plot, which can also be used for profession buildings, a Salvage Yard, and a Storehouse. Once upgraded to Tier 3, your garrison will have three Small plots available.
Abilities
This building is good for producing Blacksmithing items without the profession or producing Blacksmithing items faster with the profession.
- Level 1 - Allows the production of Blacksmithing items and work orders.
- Level 2 - Allows followers with the Blacksmithing trait to work here, granting a unique bonus. Also allows up to 14 work orders at one time.
- Level 3 - Allows up to 21 work orders at one time.
Level 1 Unlock
If you don't have Blacksmithing as a profession, you can wait until you upgrade your Garrison to Level 2 and all of the Level 1 blueprints will unlock.
Level 3 Unlock
The Level 3 version of this building is unlocked by completing the Working More Orders achievement, which requires you to complete 250 work orders in your garrison.
Work Orders
The Forge allows you to turn in 5 x True Iron Ore for Truesteel Ingot.
For a bonus, you can assign a follower with the Blacksmithing ability to your building. The follower will also give you a choice between two 4 hour duration buff:
- Song of the Anvil - Your armor and weapons do not lose durability from use for 4 hrs.
- Solace of the Forge - While outdoors in Draenor, the Guardians of the Forge watch over you and may come to your aid.
Profession Leveling
If you have the Blacksmithing profession, you will loot Haephest's Satchel / Fractured Forge Hammer from something in Draenor. Doing so will take you through a short quest line which rewards the scroll to increase your max Blacksmithing level and the blueprints for the level 1 building.
If your Blacksmithing isn't capped at 600 yet, be on the lookout for profession fragments. These drop from mobs in Draenor and can either be combined with some materials or turned in to NPCs at your garrison for skillups.
Daily Cooldown
One important thing you can craft is a Secrets of Draenor Blacksmithing, which you can trade for different Blacksmithing recipes in your garrison or at vendors in Ashran.
The other daily cooldown is the Truesteel Ingot. Truesteel Ingot are used for armor and the Blacksmithing pet.
This spell will produce 4 to 10 Truesteel Ingot depending on your skill level. The closer you get to 700, the more you will produce. Upon reaching 700, you will learn Truesteel Ingot, which changes from a single daily cooldown to a daily cooldown that can accumulate up to three charges, allowing you to miss a few days and still make all of your cooldowns.
Crafting Without Blacksmithing Profession
If you don't have the Blacksmithing profession, an NPC in the Forge will assist you in crafting many Blacksmithing items. The new items you can craft at each level are listed in the table below.
- Level 1 - Rare quality Head / Chest / Legs
- Level 2 - Rare quality wepaons, Truesteel Grinder, Truesteel Ingot
- Level 3 - Epic item level 640 armor for 8 slots

Crafting With the Blacksmithing Profession
You should be able to craft any of the Draenor Blacksmithing items, including mounts, pets, bags, and armor upgrade items, which require having Blacksmithing.
