Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

    I beg to differ.

I have played many MMOs, and while Blizzards support is certainly top notch (but not 24/7), F2P MMO's support I have never found lacking.

And regular content patches? When was Cata released? And how many new raids have we had since then?

Look forward to more ways World of Warcraft will "nickel and dime" you. The game will be milked until it no longer gives and then thrown away in favor of "Titan".

I love WoW, but I am not looking forward to what will happen if this keeps up.

Go the way of the 3 rebels who left Blizzard to found ArenaNet and are now well prepared to ship their new subscription-less MMORPG Guild Wars 2.

Sounds awesome. Hopefully they'll just include it as part of the remote ah/gchat service.

@people raging about the fee. Wow subscriptions have been the same price for 6 years now, I really don't see a problem with them asking for a few dollars more a month. I'd also like to point out that I'm pretty sure blizzard isn't going to just burn all the money that make of this, they'll most likely spend it on things to improve the game.

    Content patch != raid.

Pretty sure we just got a new content patch.

Are you really going to compare GW to an actual MMO?

How much does Diablo 2 charge?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the upkeep on one battlegroup for WoW probably costs more than the whole GW operation. And has more players.

It's not impossible to change lanes -- it's just impossible to skip ahead without paying. You can always wait your turn before changing lanes (create a new character).
    2) Charge more to be able to pull a U-turn and drive on the other side, a charge you incur per u-turn (faction xfer)
Or you could just cross the bridge and turn around (create a new character).
    3) Continue to dream up more and more ways to charge for using the same exact bridge without inherently improving the bridge itself.
Come on, really? So, this planned service wouldn't inherently improve WoW? Then why is everyone so upset that they have to pay for it?

If these services were free, Blizzard would lose money creating them. This would mean that your subscription fee would increase. Are you people really so ignorant that you can't see this?

I think most of the people posting here are missing out on one major concept with this Premium Service.

IT'S NOT COMPULSORY TO USE! YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET IT IF YOU DO NOT WANT IT.

Sure it'd be nice if it was free, but that's really not likely to happen, if you do not like it, then do not buy it. Server Transfer your toons to play with your friends then, but I'm sure some people will use it because they A) want to play with their real life / real i.d friends and B) Do not want to move server because they like the one they are currently on?

At this frequency even Guild Wars which is 6 years old and discontinued making new expansions like 4 years ago produces more content updates even though it does not charge any sort of subscription fee.

I been playing wow since Vanilla, and i gotta say...I have always been iffy about the cost of server transfers being so high. 25$ is a bit much for a minimal service that has no labor involved, it is all automated.

Race Change/Sex change/Name Change: thats understandable because its an aesthetic feature to the game and does not directly effect the gameplay of the game.

But after so many years charging 25$ for transfers and now you are going to release a great feature to the LFG system but yet charge for it?
Premium to me means $$$$ and we already pay 15$ a month so the money can be put towards the pay of the team and future production of the game which is to be included in "patches" not payed services. I am very sad to see this from Blizzard. I have been a loyal fan for many many years, but now after this Activision merge its just been money money money.

I can expect to see many people quit the game if this feature is added. Just because we are players doesn't mean we all have morals. Paying for a feature to play with our friends is completely ridiculous. I was planning on coming back for 4.2 because I was bored of grinding the same raids over and over again...but this....yeah I will not be re-activating my sub. anytime soon. Thanks for the good years, it was grand. But I will no longer support Activision-Blizzard's greediness.

World of Warcraft is Blizzards cash cow for Titan and their nice cars. nuff said...

Ah yes, we've had one major content patch since Cata was released and one upcoming. So in 6 months we've had 2 patches, or £30 a patch.

You can buy a whole new game for £30.

Both the options you proposed cost real life money.

Being able to play with your real life friends is a base service that should be free in any modern game. Oh how happy I am to have Guild Wars and soon GW2.

Well they already spent some of the money they got from us on this premium feature, meaning, we paid for the development of it, and now we have to pay to use it? It's not like blizzard needs the subscription fees to keep the game running

Sorry? Who got stomped? Guild Wars, no, they sold 7 million.

And "this time around"? Umm let me guess you are insinuating they had an other game before their first game which was Guild Wars?

Guild Wars has sold over 7 million units. So I think your numbers may be just a little off.
