Update - For the record, the international codes 009 and 041 only seems to appear on Blizzard's online games trademarks. This isn't a book or anything like that. It appears incredibly likely based on previous trademarks obtained by Blizzard that this is the next expansion.

Mists of Pandaria
Blizzard just trademarked a very interesting "Mists of Pandaria".

skeptical me is skeptical. When Cataclysm was trademarked it was trademarked as "World of Warcraft Cataclysm". Maybe....perhaps this could be a title of a new game? Titan? Plus the Pandarans homeland was Pandara....not Pandaria.

While this is likely a spin-off game, and not an expansion, I don't get why so many people have so many problems with the Pandaren. Ideas start in a variety of ways, including inside jokes within Blizzard. Besides, it's not like if it was an expansion, it'd be pandas and only pandas.

PS: To the person above me, it's always been Pandaria.

I find the people who complain that Pandaren are for "the kiddies" very hypocrtical. First of all, WoW, in general, is viewed as "kiddie". I have many buddies who all view the game as being for kids and don't understand why I, a grown man with a full time job and family, play a children's game. Secondly, we all play a game with walking, talking, humanoid Fish, Wolves, Snakes, Dragons, Dogs, Cows, Walrus's etc., but walking, talking, humanoid PANDAS will be too "kiddie"? Give me a break. 99 % of the people complaining are going to make one just like all of the people who complained about Worgen (ZOMG ITS GAY TWILIGHT) made one. Just a couple of pennies from my mind.

This whole Pandaria thing strikes me as weird.

    Let's go through a few possibilities and conclusions we could draw from the title, assuming it's an expansion;

    1) Pandaren are playable (don't think too hard about factions); Perhaps alongside another playable race, and the "bad guy" is something else entirely. Burning Legion, Emerald Nightmare, whatever. It's already weird because none of the expansions have been named after the playable race; rather, their name is normally taken from the big bad or in Deathwing's case, what the big bad did. It's an odd name for an expansion with playable Pandaren.

    2) Pandaria is the focus of whatever gone's wrong this time, thus the name; Makes more sense, but still a bit weird. Not only is Pandaria supposed to be small, it's supposed to only really have Pandaren. Pandaria being anything more than a single zone or a group of instances seems a bit off, and the idea of something major enough to be the centre of an expansion happening in Pandaria is just plain weird, especially if it has to share room with the Pandaren.

    3) Pandaren are the big bad. That makes no sense. At all.

Honestly, I think this isn't a WoW expansion at all. I think it's a spin-off game. They can get around interfering with WoW's continuous timestream by using characters or beings or places within the Warcraft universe that aren't featured, seen or otherwise really utilised at all in WoW. See what I'm getting at here? If they wanted to make another non-WoW Warcraft game, they'd either have to make it a prequel.. or do this.
The Pandaren's home is shrouded in mist, and the bad guy of the expansion found them and uncovered their homeland, exposing it to the world.

    Badabing

    Badaboom

    Im the smartest ever.

No. You are very wrong. Only the term "Cataclysm" was copywritten, nothing else. Please refrain from feeding misinformation to people.

Also, if the term World of Warcraft appeared anywhere on the copyright of Cataclysm, is would only be because Cataclysm is a VERY broad word that can be used by many companies, whereas Mists over Pandaria is about as WoWesque as you can get. Thus obliterating the need for the World of Warcraft to be included.

ok I stand corrected. it IS Pandaria. BUT the last expansion of WoW WAS trademarked WITH World of Warcraft in the title

Am I the only one who finds the inclusion of "mousepands" On the list of goods and services funny? I mean, I know they always include a mouse pad with the collectors edition, but still.

If this is the next wow expansion then maybe Pandaria is linked to the Emerald Dream somehow. Anyways, if this is true then I look forward to lush jungles and pandas.

Some of you guys are pretty hardcore in your defense of this, jeez. Yeah some people are posting "1!one!!11 NO PANDUSSS" but most are just stating their opinion/that it doesn't feel right to them. Regardless, even after reading the 'evidence' and argumentation, it still feels like a side-project to me (especially since you'd think they'd learned their lesson about copyrights with Cata).

I really hope this Pandaria crap is a troll from Blizzard =P......the name itself for an expansion is not even suitable.....

Also, mousepads is such a random specificity. And before anyone says "COLLECTORS EDITION DUUUH" there are other equally specific pretty standard aspects of a collectors edition they didn't include, and even if it is for the collector's edition it's still really random to include that, to me (though I'll admit it might be a quirk of patent law or something, not really familiar with that in the slightest).

I dunno man. Could they really focus an entire xpac on only pandarens? If they come up with another small xpac with just a few zones people will get burned soo damn quickly.Blizzard prolly knew people whould find this trademark. And they used it to their advantage by putting people on the wrong trail, and keeping the real new xpac hidden.

It's probably implying too much, but I wonder if "Mists" have some connection to the Kvaldir.

If this is real, I mean

It's not that random in fact. They have to trademark mousepads seperately due to the fact that the logo and item they are trademarking will be printed on the mousepad and for the reason that a mousepad is not a disc or a manual. It falls under its own category. That's basically the reason.
