WoW Up to 7.8 Million Subscribers
Blizzard has their Q4 2013 earnings call today, announcing that WoW is up to 7.8 million subscribers. This is up 200k from the Q3 2013 call that listed WoW at 7.6 million subscribers.
guys i got it....i finally understand....wow si dying ....by getting people to sub back in so that more and more and more people play the game...in fact their way to go out is have SO MANY people play that servers are overloaded and explode.....i mean why else merge realms?
It's not that surprising. You could buy MoP+WOW for $15 with 1 month of subscription at the end of last year. I bought 3. One is already unsubbed and the other two will finish this month. $15 is nothing to try out the content that you have missed.
Yah cause "Wow is dying" 7.6 million subscribers and you thought it was dying. At that pace it will be dead in what 2034? i mean really. WoW will die when they release a better game, and stop releasing content. Most of us are family we have played this game so long.
im wondering, maybe RaF accounts are boosting the numbers a bit, in decemeber they reduced the cost of WoW to £4 from vanilla-cata, so a lot of people took advantage of that and raffed up new characters while it was cheap
Surprising that it happened NOW, but not surprising that it happened. WoD will bring in a chunk of subs I'm sure.
Oh well, doesn't change my gameplay at all. Gotta laugh at the morons choosing not to TRUST them on this or feeling butturt about it just because they have such a grudge against a game.
Don't think anyone would say 2m, but they definitely will drop.
Then back up another mil or so with WoD in Q2 (assuming it's in Q2)
In Jaylock's thread, he assumed it would have dropped to 5.7mil or something. That is ~2 mil.
I mean, I have no illusions that a ~10yr old game won't slowly erode the sub base until the plug is finally pulled at some point, and it will have little bumps and nudges with major patches and expacs, but still, it was definitely worth a chuckle at how wrong some were.
