Why not just make versatility become less effective once a certain percentage is reached like a diminishing return, let's say, 30% maybe ? A blunt nerf on versatile makes people who didn't have much versa to begin with very much more squishy...

Good versatility was too damn good in arena

Sure, I mean Versatile is one of the only reasons I don't get mowed down in arenas by Infinite Stars, Twilight Devastation, Reaping Flames, Lethal Strikes, Writhing Segment of Drest'agath, and Remote Guidance Device, but yeah go ahead and nerf it while ignoring the reasons people started stacking it in the first place; corruptions, PvE trinkets, and R3 Essences are bursting us down before we can even react to them.

Meanwhile Warlocks and Mages are about to have the time of their lives!

I don't think Blizzard planned this whole "purchase corruption" thing very well.

They should have cap or diminish every corruption with % stats, so simple

Seems straightforward enough to me. OP things you randomly get = fine go crazy. OP things you can buy = we need to do some tuning.

Did they ever planned anything well after 3.0?

Nerfing only versatility is outright ridiculous.

Some classes such as Shaman rely on versatility hugely to get around their otherwise miserable defensive abilities. We've finally stated seeing more shamans like enhancement creep back into the pro arena scene as a result.

This versatility nerf simply nerfs classes that need it while buffing classes like Warlocks that don't need the vers. Warlocks are already considered by the majority of the playerbase as being too strong and this is actually BUFFING them.

I agree that versatility needs to be tuned, having most people running around stacking it getting too tanky is bad for the overall game. HOWEVER you need to address reasons why people are running so much; pve trinkets (shock, every time), TA corruption and classes like warlock and mage that are simply too strong right now in part because of their crazy survivability.

Defensive ability should not be baked into offensive ability roation. I.e, conflag should absolutely not root, just slow. Blade Dance should not give 100% dodge. Fists of Fury should not give 100% parry. This is dumb design. Warlock Soul Leech is completely absurd and needs tweaking.

Please Blizzard consider the wider ramifications of simply nerfing versatility.

They aren’t needing versatility outright they’re nerfing the corruption “Versatile”. Huge difference

You're losing versatility as a result and it buffs the already too strong classes, see the rest of my post.

Great so we're right back to PvP being a burst fest instead.

While I admit versatile stacking got rather OTT it was certainly more fun than watching your guy fall to the floor in 2 seconds and not being able to do anything about it.

Well at least 33% is not a 5% increment. They sliced off 1/3 of the stat, but hey they probably just wanted to make sure they don't have to nerf it again.

Lol @ the people asking for Blizzard to go through the effort of diminishing returns. This isn't 2010.

If I had to guess these changes are directly to placate PvP streamers who are fuelling their prepatch business, and who do nothing but complain about vers, OP trinkets and of course monk healers. I'm surprised they didn't nerf chaos bolt by 25% tbh.

from what i've seen of cdew's TR tests, there already is a hidden versa cap since he managed to achieve over 100% damage reduction and was still taking quite a bit of damage. the cap might be around 50%.

They probably could have seen this one coming before people spent 30 - 35k echoes on versatile corruptions.. Guess mastery specced fire mages will still be burst kings.

Who wouldve thought that stacking mass versatile would be bad for pvp? I know blizzard didnt

A toddler would understand that it would get ouf of hand and wouldnt release the vendor in the first place. Thats the thing people are talking about.
Not the fact that it needs to be nerfed. That part is a nobrainer. The problem is that it shouldnt be possible from the beginning...

The people that whine about mages and warlocks are the melee who just want to tunnel those classes the entire game until they fall over from running out of cooldowns. That was a winning strategy in 8.1, but not anymore. I'm sorry you have to learn how to kick and kite to get ranking now. This is the result of Blizzard making casters competitive without giving them more ways to escape mongo melee.

Stacking versa was ridiculously OP considering how it buffed already strong classes like monks and demon hunters while also making them immortal. It's not fun gameplay when a demon hunter can just soak up 3 million damage without even being pressured enough to use darkness.

Oh yeah so only the very few people lucky enough to rng a bunch of versatile would have a chance at pvp.

It's not the vendor that's the issue, corruption potentially making secondary stats go way too high is the issue.
