The Great Push - New Mythic+ Tournament

We’re thrilled to announce details on our first competitive dungeon one-off tournament of the year. Welcome to The Great Push, coming May 28-30!

For over fourteen years, we’ve sought to explore new ways to push the limits of competitive World of Warcraft. With The Great Push, our first one-off tournament of the year, we are bringing a new style of competitive dungeon running distinct from the foundations set by the Mythic Dungeon International (MDI). Instead of teams fighting to beat their opponent’s time, The Great Push is focused on teams pushing keys as high as they can, striving to out survive their competitors and be crowned the champion!

How The Great Push Works

  • The Great Push stands separate from the MDI. Any team of five players can register for their shot at the $20,000 (USD) prize pool!
  • Teams will compete in the initial qualifier phase, the Proving Grounds, on May 22-23, where teams will be given two dungeon keystone combinations to push to the highest difficulty they can reach on the tournament realm.
  • The top six teams from the qualifier will be invited to the main tournament, where they will compete across the different Shadowlands Dungeons to push their keystones as high as possible.
  • The winning team will be the one who has the highest overall score for dungeons pushed and will be crowned the champion.
  • There are no pre-requisites required to play in the tournament, teams can sign up for The Great Push through May 17!

The tournament will be broadcast live on YouTube and Twitch, and players will also be able to stream their perspectives during the tournament, including their time in the Proving Grounds. You can choose to follow your favorite team and players, while keeping up with the casters for the overall standings throughout the weekend.

Looking Forward

Meanwhile, be sure to tune in to the MDI Global Finals where teams will battle for $300,000 USD on April 23-25, only on YouTube. With Season 1 featuring some of the hardest-fought dungeon runs imaginable, including the closest dungeon finish in MDI history, 2021 is gearing up to be the Mythic Dungeon International’s best year ever. Subscribe to the Warcraft YouTube and don’t forget to follow the WoW Esports Twitter, for the chilliest chills and dankest memes in all of Azeroth. We’ll see you in the Dungeon Finder!

    Yes.

Basically guides, which have been a thing in gaming since forever.

Just much easier to access the information with the internet and 16 years of database and sim building in an old game.

get ready for raids/mythic plus to get slightly more toxic and picky thanks to the great push.
That is an community issue. Not a Blizzard issue.

That's nice of you to assume something is a failure before it even fucking happens. Absolutely no bias at all, right?
Failing at creating an eSports scene is something Blizzard isn't new to.

It's money from Acti-Blizz that could go towards something else.

What, you think that money just comes from thin air?

Do you really think that? It is only the communities fault.
It is not garbage, it is actually the "best" your character can be. You can care about that or ignore it.

People were mad because it was another "Acti-Blizz laid off poor employees!" headline.

Less of a burn considering where the money that runs these events comes from.

It's almost as if emotional weirdos like the person you are responding to can't see five feet in front of themselves.

So they bringing something new like this in on the heels of they just laid people off that would have promoted it? Lol

Not a single thing possibly could. The only thing they could possibly do that would be interesting is the WF race. But even then they haven't even bothered to grab hold of it and turn it into something because they can't be fucked off enough to help even the early start/late start for US vs EU.

Instead we're stuck with these suits dumping a ton of sub and loot box money onto shitty events nobody watches lmao

Of course THIS is what they communicate about. Pushing Mythics as ESports. It's almost as if the "regular" players are just there to support these tournaments. /SMH

Ikr? It's almost as if it's cheaper to fire a ton of people rather than retrain them and redirect their talent and efforts onto a different type of platform.

And we've got these 'soomers just sucking it all up lmao

I mean they kinda are. People constantly reference these eSport goblins when they're going on about "the meta". But of course, they don't actually watch the event. They just look at the stats and strats and try to copy/paste it, and fail in doing so because they lack the hand-eye coordination to actually play the game at the skill level required where they can actually apply said stats and strategies.

Wrong, Metas Exists cuz numbers dont lie.

There is an optimal way of doing Damage/healing. That is a fact.

GUIDES are just the result of the fact to get to those numbers. not vice versa.

    Absolutely.

Any game with math and choice has a meta.

It has to, because like you said, math.

The guides just do the math and summarize it for the masses.
