Going into that game, I think I underestimated A&M's defense more than anything. But still, I'm really surprised that Alabama couldn't adapt. They really killed themselves with stupid mistakes.

They haven't really been tested throughout most of their season. I was a little surprised how they played last week against LSU, but now it's pretty clear that Bama was just significantly overrated.

Alabama is out. ND will more than likely be out after USC. KSt is ok, but could drop as well. Field is wide open. Oregon still has two tough games and one zinger, so who knows.

I think it's purely sentimental value. The same reason for example VT always starts out highly ranked.
