General WoD Alpha/Beta Discussion

Here is my final theory of the day. The Blizzard staff themselves are going to be testing and setting up for 6.0 on Live. We will see either 6.0 go live 1 month before or after Beta starts, Beta will just be raid and balance testing, with questing in there for the idiots that get in just to fuck around. That is my honest thoughts.

Nah, if anything its an indication they are confident in the changes they are making and they are confident in the new download system.

Meh, I doubt it. If you notice, ogres have tiger-like pelts in their caves. There are no tigers in Outland.

Hawkbane is a tiger and he's been a fixture in Outland for quite a long time. Blizzard removed him when they revamped Skettis and fan demand put him back in.

So I would say there's at least one tiger in Outland.

Serious devolution. The race is orange and black (mainly orange) and stands upright, has normal teeth.

Hawkbane is white and black, stands on all fours, and has saber-teeth.

Really that is some serious devolution.

Seems possible that the Old Horde effectively hunted these guys down during the period in which the planet was royaly fucked, and they were trapped with nothing to fight but each other.

Black dragons became Netherwing, so it could happen, right?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, it could be one of those things where there were two
tribes, one slowly devolved into quadrapeds, and the others didn't. Or, that one pack
evolved into bipeds.

I do have some feedback on the Battle.net Launcher, I have already given feedback to Blizzard, but I am unable to change my download speed and its rather annoying that I cannot download things and play because when I am downloading it uses all of my speed up and my pings jump to 500-600..... wish it would change when I set the rates. Anyone else noticing this?

Click the settings icon on the top left of the launcher, and turn down the KB/s to whatever % you want it to download at your regular internet speed.

Test your speed here, and put about half that in the bandwidth.

Honestly, im happy the expansion has been delayed. Sure, in a perfect world the expansion would come out super fast and have limitless amounts of content. That aint happening so they had 2 choices:

- Release the expansion faster (timetable everyone probably thought originally), but would have less content, be less good overall, probably not have all model updates done, and people would take less time to transition to 'expansion sux not enough content too bored gonna unsub gg blizz'
- Release the expansion slower, take longer, give more content, have all model updates done, more chance of people sticking around once the initial expansion hype wears off because theres actually tons more to do - instead of desperately needing 6.1 content patch to reignite their interest again.

Whats the lesser of two evils here? 1 - Having an expansion released fast, (and losing less subs in the endofMOP dead zone like now) then everyone gets bored/unsubs relatively fast into WOD. Or, 2- having expansion released slower, (and losing potentially more subs in the endofMOP dead zone like now) but keeping those subs who play WOD for longer, and giving the old subs more reason to come back and be hooked once they do.

Blizzard clearly chose the latter.

There is also a 3rd option.
-Release the expansion on time by not shuffling their employees so much, have better middle management, and sticking to their guns instead of incessantly dropping projects.

If you don't believe that is the case, read up on former employee reviews. Some of the more veteran workers detail how inefficient Blizzard is with their oh so precious resources.

Sticking to your guns isn't always a good idea. It has to have merit so it's not so simple.
