    6 new races: Time to uncap character slots?

    Well, the title pretty much says it all. We're basically getting 6 new races this expansion, with more coming down the line if everything works out as Blizzard plans, and i imagine that a lot of people would like to roll some of these new races, without deleting some of their older chars.
    I always thought that the slot cap per server was a bit unnecessary, but i really think that in light of these coming developments, it's time to uncap character slots per server. Keep the 50 max per account, but let me make all of these 50 characters on the same server if i so choose.

    I'd be interested to hear from people with more experience and insight into server technology and limitations if there would be any technical problems with implementing this. I always thought that it was more of a business decision, with server transfers costing money and all that, but with servers basically becoming an irrelevant thing with the new pvp/pve toggle, i guess that wouldn't be much of an argument anymore.

    not races? really, we dont know how they will play out, they are subraces.

    will they be aka for Highmountain listed under Tuaren as a different type,
    belf be listed as nightbourne etc...

    They do not seem to be subraces, only fans like to connect them to races that have similar looks and/or history/culture. It is possible we get things such as Ogres down the line as allied races as well.
    We KNOW that they start at a slightly higher level and have to be unlocked, and from what I heard they are treated like entirely independent races including new racials.

    When 7.3.5 launches, realms will become completely irrelevant anyways, so it doesn't matter.

    Yeah that's correct. They even have different class-combos. BUT all the skeletons themselves are indeed just copies of existing playable races (and they get different colors and some extra touch)

    i bet they'll give you an extra 1 if any. and gotta use it wisely. and maybe extend the character limit by a little bit.

    Remember, they're 'allied' races not 'sub' races like some ppl say. Will probably let blizz be more lenient in the future ones they add and means they wont leave ppl hanging (unless there's actually a technological reason they can't add extra slots ).

    They are what we wanted as subraces aka different skins to choose from, but these are actual races. They all have their own racials. You cannot choose the Highmountain skins/horns etc. when choosing a Tauren. You have to choose Highmountain.

    Nope you didn't miss anything. Servers will still matter, for guilds and mythic raiding at least.

    Yeh, my take on this is "lazier"* (faster to make) races that they can pull out more often, with a more immersive way of gaining them, inspired from narratives such as the dragon age series where half the plot is recruiting your allies to fight the enemy.

    *Provided they don't get in the way of us ever getting a "non-lazy" race ever again, I do not see this as a bad thing. Even if we had 3 races with each skeleton, it'd still be a far more varied set of racial animations than any other MMO, and we don't know if the skeletons animations will be 100% copy pasted, nightborne currently have different walking and idle animations for example.

    Desperately need more. I have every class at 110 on my main RP server. There’s no room to experiment with these new subraces unless I dump them on an alt-alt server (Because my main alt server is full too).

    Realms won't be seperated into PVE and PVP anymore. The "sharding" tech which is being used on the Broken Isles is being applied everywhere (so you'll always be in a balanced environment with people from all kinds of servers).

    And we're getting "Communities", which are cross-realm, you can join as many as you want + they function similar to guilds.

    Guilds stay tho as they are.

    He is referring to the removal of the PvP/PvE realm separation. You can now toggle between PvP and PvE sharding whenever you are in a capital city and whenever you go out in the world, you'll only meet fellow people that are interested in PvPing or that are only interested in PvEing depending on your choice. Ganking lowbies is a thing of the past and so "world pvp is dead"

    Have the same issue myself, I want to unlock the heritage armour but most of my characters are either 110 or 100.

    What servers are you playing on that aren't coelesced with another? My server was joined with 3 others, so I effectively already have 33 char slots.
