I choose mustard myself, if you feel the food you eat needs ketchup then you are eating bad food... besides there are much better tomato based sauces you can eat that are better than ketchup.

I'd be ok without either one but if I had to choose I'd go with ketchup.

Ketchup. I only really have mustard on Christmas ham, and while it's one of my favorite meals, it's only once a year.

That is hard. I'd have to say mustard. I'm not going to put ketchup on deli sandwiches or etc.

    Okay, I will.

But yeah, totally Mustard. For one, there's a lot more varities of mustard and generally I like the flavor of Mustard over Catsup. Besides, Spicy Mustard pairs much better with blue cheese than mustard...as well as everything else I like to eat.

    Mustard.

Can't think of a single food I would ever put ketchup on. Not one. Ketchup is not a compliment, it's a mask. It makes anything you put it on taste like ketchup. Sweet tomato sauce, where even the flavor of the tomato is masked by the sugar and vinegar.

So yeah, if ketchup would stop existing nothing of value would be lost.

Agreed. Mustard has a load of uses in food, ketchup, as you said, is a mask.

The only question harder than that is "Ketchup or mustard or mayo?".

    Mustard.

So many delicious dishes utterly depend on mustard. Ketchup is something you use to make bad sausages palatable.
Mustard also comes in far more variables depending on what you need to pair it with.

If you want to make a better equivalence of "only one" going with "Mustard of Tomato Sauce" as your choices would be more fair than this one.

Id have to say Mustard even though I don't necessarily even like it by itself. I just know mustard, of many different varieties, are used as ingredients in hundreds if not thousands of cooking recipes and I wouldn't want to go without that.

    I could live without Ketchup.
