A referendum on political status was held in the Falkland Islands on 10–11 March 2013. The Falkland Islanders were asked whether or not they supported the continuation of their status as an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom in view of Argentina's call for negotiations on the islands' sovereignty.
On a turnout of 91.94%, an overwhelming 99.8% voted to remain a British territory, with only three votes against.

For some reason Argentine thinks they are an European nation. Maybe they want the UK to have the falklands so they can call themselves neighbors of a European country? I don't know, I usually don't understand the Argentine logic.

Brits don't want to give it up, Argentina can't risk taking it by force. It's not like the transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong.

Because the Argentinians botched the invasion and didn't go in with more force, that's why.
It's unlikely the UK would have escalated the situation further if their initial counter-attack had been properly repulsed.
