    I'll try to get the actual datamine text in here, but OH BOY, there's some interesting stuff in there. I saw Shadowbolt adn Nightfall and Shadow's Embrace and Soulfire.

    • Soul Fire is back for destruction, but we don't know in what context.
    • Infernal is heavily buffed for Destruction, and it looks like they no longer have Doomguard.
    • Some inkling Destro may get an ability from the Dimensional Rifts (artifact ability).
    • Soul Leech is nerfed.
    • Affliction gets "Death Bolt".
    • Dark Pact is now always based on your own health
    • Grimoire of Sacrifice reverted to the WoD version

    Looks like Affliction is exchanging Drain Soul for Shadow Bolt as its filler again. As proof: "Nightfall (New) Corruption has a chance when it deals damage to cause your next Shadow Bolt to be instant and deal 25% increased damage. Affliction Warlock - Level 90 Talent. Approximately 3.5 procs per minute."

    ETA: Also "Shadow Embrace (New) Shadow Bolt applies Shadow Embrace, increasing your damage dealt to the target by 3% for until cancelled. Stacks up to 3 times. Affliction Warlock - Level 15 Talent." This would make the Afflic Lvl 15 talent row that, revised Haunt (+10% damage, 10s cooldown), and "Deathbolt (New) Launches a bolt of death at the target, dealing 15% of the total remaining damage of your damage over time effects on the target. Counts up to 16 sec of your Corruption's damage. Affliction Warlock - Level 15 Talent. 2% of Base Mana. 40 yd range. 2 sec cast. 25 sec cooldown."

    That Deathbolt talent sounds interesting, some kind of burst damage ability for Affliction is very welcome, but....doesn't that kind of go against their watercooler idea of classes/specs being made more specifically to a particular niche? Not sure I understood what they meant now, or if this just flies in the face of it.

    Another Afflic change is that a 10% Contagion effect now seems to be baseline for UA. That plus the loss of Reap Soul definitely seems to be pushing Afflic in a certain direction for BfA.

    Changes look interesting but very incomplete. I do not believe for a second that they would put in a lot of changes for Affliction, but leave Demonology largely untouched.

    That being said, most of the changes look reasonable. I personally did not see an immediate need to get Shadow Bolt back into Affliction, but I suppose it doesn't change much except it front-loads more damage compared to a channeled Drain Soul so that helps with burst.

    I do applaud them for removing Life Tap baseline and turning it into a DPS talent only, something I've been suggesting for the longest time. Not sure if no-CD LT for 1 Shard is balanced, 1 Shard per GCD is too good I think.

    I mean, if you want your healers to hate you, sure.

    Also, if we are going back to Shadowbolt then that means no more Drain for health passively, which makes getting back life spent on tapping that much harder. Currently I'd laugh at lifetapping for shards cause I can heal it back in no time. Without Draining to help me though, gets tricky.

    So I pulled up a text file and tried to plug the new talents into a matrix to see what's on offer. From the look of it Afflic is complete, Destro is nearly complete, and Demo is very incomplete.

    Eh. It's getting nerfed a bit, but it is truly a bit odd how much sefl healing we have and how tanky we are. I'm not too phased by changes there. I'm sure other classes have impopular changes too. If this is the worst of what we can expect, then it could definitely be far worse than this.

    Absolutely no changes to Demo when they said it would be one of the few classes getting a major overhaul? It looks like Aff and Destru got more fucking work done on it than Demo.

    Soulfire should have been a demonology spell. Destro's hardest hitting spell should be chaosbolt, and it makes no sense to dilute their burst by introducing a spell that works just like chaosbolt but does 40% more spell damage, which means chaos bolt will have to be balanced around that output.

    Have to consider the opportunity cost of the GCD you're spending to do it, the other talent on the row you're not taking, and the enormous health cost. Doesn't sound nearly as exciting when you factor all that in.

    You figure its 2 GCD's (3s) for the shards + 3s for the CB cast and you're looking at 6s of missed incinerates which is 58.28% spellpower x 3 = 174.84. You minus that from the 240% spellpower for CB and you're looking at a gain of 65.16% spellpower during that time spent before factoring in whatever you're losing from the other talents on the row and the massive health loss. Really crappy napkin math but you get the idea.

    I'm super excited that they're going in that direction and overhauling it though. I love that they're going in that direction with it as opposed to the mana thing, its just going to need some work. Anything like that that doesn't have a CD is going to either be not good enough or create degenerate gameplay.
    ..and so he left, with terrible power in shaking hands.

    Shadowbolt and nightfall... only took em 9 years to realize those were the most fun part of the spec, I'm looking forward to it.

    Demo's looking grim though, but I'm guessing they haven't really tackled the issue since most of it is unchanged, let's hope they don't get lazy and come up with a half baked design to hide their problem under the rug.
