Shame that the ones that's been doing the heavy fighting and been the best fighting force against isis is now getting fucked over, what have turkey done to fight isis? other then going in when isis where at their weakest of course.

Same with Kirkuk that the iraqis fled at first sight of fighting like alot of other places and that the kurds captured back and defended multiple times from isis lost it to the iraqis when isis where gone.

Turkey shooting down a plane that would have been due for replacement soon anyway and killing a couple of low end pilots isn't really something worth shitting the bed over, especially when it buys you political capital. Turkey invading your ally and assisting the extremists you're fighting to attack an allied group of yours and your allies, that's another matter entirely.

Anyway, Kurds can not form little cantons just because they compose the majority in a particular town. Especially not near Turkish border, considering it's a serious security risk.

Afrin has been one of the most stable places since the start of the civil war. The Turks and thier jihadi proxies have gone there simply to slaughter kurds, Erodgan is doing it for domestic political reasons.
