The last knight showed the cash cow was starting to wane. It might take idiots a bit longer but they eventually get there and stop going.

And surely the goal is to make money AND try make a good movie?

I've marched myself against my better judgement to see all of these in the cinema so far through a weird mix of nostalgia-fueled masochism and morbid curiosity. Each one past the first movie has been progressively more of a stupid, over-long, loud shaky-cam explosion-fueled clusterfuck that gave me headaches and motion sickness (I never said seeing these at the movies was smart...)

I'd love a good, competent director and writer to come in and tell a nice, tight sub-two-hour story with a couple of decent action set-pieces centered around a small team of humanised Autobots as the protagonists, with maybe one human point-of-view character for the audience. Who knows? Maybe we'll even get that with Bumblebee. Fingers crossed but doubtful.

Id argue all the Transformers movies till the last one had redeeming qualities.

The last one however was so silly and didnt make any sense. Anthony Hopkins and his butler-bot were just utter shite to watch.

Well she was the only decent character in the first one. Everyone else was either flat, annoying, or Turturro.

I don't care as long as Michael Bay doesn't direct them. -_-

Less ass shots of Megan will be appreciated.

Also revamp Hot Rod/Rodimus! He was my fave back in the classics. Give him eventual leadership of the Autobots! We all love Optimus but he can't be the leader forever!

Hot Rod/Rodimus was always my favourite too (because small children are easily impressed by bright colours and too many exhausts) but I rewatched the whole thing in my 20s (when they came out on DVD) and beyond The Transformers: The Movie Rodimus is actually a bit of a whiner who constantly laments his destiny, which is why he was so keen to hand the matrix back to Prime when he kept being ressurected.

Well, to be fair movie Rodimus didn't get much screentime, and was pretty badass for the few seconds he was there.

But after that yeah he becomes a whiner and terrible leader.

I don't mind having non-Prime leaders, and they need to have some element that differentiates them in leadership from Prime...but being shitty leaders isn't a good one. I liked Ultra Magnus super-by-the-book-hardass leadership.

They should 10000000000000% bring her back

Also, probably unpopular but I thought Shia Lebouff and Megan Fox made the movies good, they were solid actors and made the first movie fun. I thought the fourth movie was absolute cancer to watch and I still haven't seen the sixth, pretty sad because i really enjoyed the first two.

I was going to say, having Ultra Magnus in a new movie, voiced by Robert Stack, would be amazing. Then I decided to look him up and found out he died 15 years ago (2003). Didn't realize he died, or that he would have been 100 years old next year.

I personally didn't care for Hot Rod in the old series/movie, and thought he was rather terrible with a bad accent in the Last Knight movie.

The guy who did the voice for his short time in Prime did a pretty good job I think (and with a name like Michael Ironside no less!).

I mean Welles is dead, Stack is dead, Nimoy is dead, at this point we're just waiting for the hammer to fall on Cullen or Welker.
-Though Hugo Weaving did a pretty good Megatron in Bayformers, and David Kaye is always there if we want a new take on Megatron's voice, and I can pretty much listen to Gary Chalk in anything. But as much as I think Steve Blum nailed Starscream, I really do get tired of hearing him in everything.

Yeah, I get why they did it in the new movie (because Hot Rod/Rodimus is a poser) but still it was just...WTF.
But then, a LOT of TLK was WTF.

IMO, the only good Transformers movie was made in the 80s and is animated.

If they plan to reboot, they could do worse than look at that movie for inspiration.

So they should kill most of the original cast in the first 10 minutes to sell more toys, rip off Star Wars to a ridiculous degree and hire a well regarded, aged actor so their last ever movie is a cash-grab they hated?

Sounds like a solid plan if it makes a movie as good as the 80s animated film.

I'll make a wild guess that you didn't like the film. No worries, I did say it was the only good one, in my opinion, after all.

Absolutely loved the film, one summer I must have watched it 3 or 4 times a week for the entire holidays and I still listen to the soundtrack, but that doesn't make anything I said less true.

But you asked a question and did not make a statement. Can a question be true or false, really?

It appears we can both be pedantic

The last one managed to get 600 million at the box office, which was a lot less than the 1.1 billion the one before that made.

That's also why they reset it I guess. These movies still have potential if they focus on the transformers more and improve the damn writing.

The movies are visually stunning. They just really didn't seem to have much of a story to tell. The first couple were ok becausae the repeatiation hadn't set in. Then suddenly all of the the movies became "in the same world you were in before.. some new robots from space show up to fight.. then we win.. stay tune until the next wave of space robots arrive for our friendly robots and one cunning human with his pornstar girl friend manage to fight off"
