I'm sure something like this will happen. Every single moment of this Cohen mess has been something unprecedented. At some point Cohen will run out of that stuff, unless he'll try and get a dog to testify on his behalf.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that his personal attorney Michael Cohen represented him "with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal," after previously denying any knowledge of a payment Cohen made to the porn actress who alleges an affair with Trump.

Trump spoke by phone Thursday to "Fox & Friends."

He said weeks ago that he had no knowledge of a $130,000 payment Cohen made to Daniels before the 2016 election in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual tryst with Trump in 2006.

Arguing that Cohen was one of his "many attorneys," Trump said Thursday: "He represents me like with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal," and added, "From what I see, he did absolutely nothing wrong. There were no campaign funds going in." The telephone connection seemed to cut out for a few seconds after Trump mentioned Daniels.
Noticed this on yahoo when i went to check my mail.

Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't all just flown away like people do in cartoons when they spin their arms.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me to see "Why didn't Obama fire Cohen?" They're that desperate and that unhinged.

Why does Trump think Cohen is guilty?

Maybe you should bring it up with Trump, he's the one who said it.

You wouldn't be a witness against yourself unless you've done something wrong. That's pretty much how pleading the Fifth works. Especially in cases like this - where they are asking for information, and you won't/can't give it, because you don't want to incriminate yourself. It's a little bit on the Catch-22 side, but still accurate.

It's tantamount to giving up. A smarter lawyer would know what this means, but then again when has Trump hired smart people?

Nonsense... Liberace had better taste. What Trump has, is a classic example of Russian Oligarch chic, though even they tend to at least throw some color around the place...

Stormy's lawyer is suggesting that the $1.6 million abortion payout might have been for Trump, instead of someone else.

Unlikely, the RNC guy immediately resigned when this info came out. Avenatti is fishing, but the thing is, he has very good bait. Info on that case will need to be reviewed, to make sure Avenatti is wrong. It's one less thing Cohen can use as a shield to hide his dirty deeds behind.

Avenatti is a seasoned, career trial lawyer - who seems to be at least very good at his job. Things like this - trolling for more info on the Broidy resignation is something he does while he's buttering his croissant at breakfast. Trump and his idiot lawyers - most of whom are corporate stuff jobs - are way out of their class in this contest.

And this is just a sideshow - Mueller is the real thread. Avenatti/Stormy is just a pleasant sideshow. They might get some criminal results, but mostly it's for (our) fun.

I think the odds are good that Trump will go down on something else (obstruction, money laundering, whatever) long before the Russia stuff ever hits. When charges finally come in the Russian stuff he will probably already be in jail.

I completely agree. "Collusion" is really a complicated issue, with a more-than-difficult to define federal statue. The best they could hope for is either Federal Elections violations or Treason - which is where they went with Manafort.

It's my firm and reasoned belief that Trump will actually see jail time for money laundering.

I've been in agreement about this for a while. Most targets would not help Avenatti's case by calling Fox and Friends and admitting everything. Also, most targets would say "ok, a picture of a VHS tape, so fucking what?" Trump cannot keep silent, and he cannot take the chance that Daniels has anything on tape.

Also, Hannity! Avenatti's baiting is why we know about the likely un-criminally-related Hannity. Cohen was forced at "legal gunpoint" to disclose the names of his clients, because of Avenatti's motions. And for no other reason.

Avenatti speaks fluent Trump. His attacks are scoring mark after mark in the win column.

It is a very useful sideshow at that. This whole mess has allowed Mueller to slip back under the radar where he is most effective. As usual, Trump is playing directly into his opponents plans. Avenatti wants publicity, and lots of it, so he keeps baiting Trump, and Trump keeps giving it to him. Mueller REALLY doesn't want publicity, he wants to be snooping around where nobody really knows what he is doing until he pops out and arrests people.

Trump and his legal team are giving both of them exactly what they want. It also doesn't help Trump's case that his abrasive style of "leadership" is leaving an endless stream of bitter ex-confidants willing to cash in what they know for either fame, money, or lessened jail time.
