I can't believe people still try to argue that Venezuela is something other than socialist. Just get over it, it's a poorly run Socialist government. It's entirely possible to have a shitty Socialist society as it is to have a shitty Communist, Fascist, Capitalist, etc...

No, their problems are due to them being communists.

It's the natural stupidity of the supporters of socialism.

For some reason socialism has always been advocated exclusively by idiots and tyrants.

    Thing is

If you need to describe everyone opposed to you as idiots or tyrants it is often more likely you are the one with the issue.

There can easily be exceptions, same as with all variants of going for the simplest explanation, but as a general rule

Intervention in private business happens all over the world, thats no necessarily socialism. But what you have in Venezuela is a total war against the capitalist system (perpetrated by a socialist party), they are taking the interventions in the economy to a whole new level in order to destroy the "bourgeoisie" (aka middle income class) and bring equality to everyone. And guess what ? They are doing a great job on making everyone (except for Maduro's friends) miserable.

But yeah, the transition is not yet complete, thats why Venezuela is still a socialist country. After they complete the transition (which never happens, because the country gets destroyed from inside before), Venezuela will be a communist country - thats the goal of Maduro's party.
It's amazing you typed all that and thought it was intelligent.

Go find the other comment I posted with four different RIGHT WING sources talking about how the majority of Venezuela's business is private sector - over 2\3.

Venezuela is no more socialist than most european countries are, the only difference is its poor (thinks to a long history of US intervention and destruction in latin america) and it's brown, which is why it's a talking point for ' the failings of socialism'.

Chavez and Maduro destroyed Venezuela. I got to see the before and after in there, its very, very sad. They obliterated the country. Their socialism ended up the same way it did everywhere else: with people starving and dying everywhere. Brazil is filled up with venezuelans trying to escape famine.

It way, way past time Maduro answers for his crimes. Sadly there is no sight of any internacional movement to remove the madman.

As a communist country, Venezuela shouldn't even have cash!

Because at the time, they had some of the best worker protections, including universal healthcare and retirement income. Venezuela, much like Russia, have been hammered by the clearing prices and volatility of oil due to their economy being wholly dependent on hydrocarbons and it's by products.
