For the last couple of days I've been having trouble with my Local Disc apparently being nearly full, yet when I check the drive, as you'd expect, there's nothing on there.
Anyone know WTF is going on, and how I'd go about fixing this?

if it is a hard disk try to defrag it.
select the drive
Right click > Properties > Tools > Defragment
Hard drives write on magnetic platters, this basically moves the writing into more condensed areas.
DO NOT do this if you have a Solid State Drive (SSD) as it dramatically lowers the lifespan of SSDs
Few other causes
-large paging file (uses storage space for a memory bank)
-system restore images (this will appear hidden in the storage)

I had a windows update and windows os took up 30+gigs with just an old copy of windows. I had to google how to remove windows.old and going through those steps fixed the issue for me and it didnt take that long.
This is a fairly lew laptop, it's always been Windows 10. Tbh, I've never noticed if D: was there or not, because until now there's been no REASON to check it.
Even with Hidden files shown, the drive is still empty. It's the ODDEST fucking thing...

Go to disk management and see if the drive/partition does exist, the other thing to see if there is an actual drive D is go into the systems bios and see how many drives it has.. There should be at least 3, the main system drive, this weird drive D and the optical drive if the computer has one.. Other than that no idea what is going on..
This problem has been ocurring lately more and more with W10 updates, it unhides the boot partition.
Verify it's not a data drive (say check if the total size is 500MB) and if that's the case then press the Windows key -> CMD (run as admin) -> diskpart -> remove letter=D
Note: Do not do this unless it's as stated previously a boot partition or other partition not meant to be there and wasn't there prior.

can drop that into a .bat file see if that helps any
if you don't know how to make a .bat, copy this into a notepad, and save as, name it lowspace.bat or something
I had the exact same problem about a week ago, a small drive appeared out of nowhere after a windows update.
Removing the drives letter from showing up solved the problem.
