Heroes of the Storm - Echoes of Alterac, Yrel, Alterac Pass, and More!

Heroes of the Storm - Echoes of Alterac
The Echoes of Alterac event runs from June 12 – July 9 adds Yrel as a Hero, the Alterac Pass map, and more Warcraft goodness!

    New Hero - Yrel
Yrel is the newest hero in Heroes of the Storm! She is a warrior tank with abilities that require charging up for maximum effect.

After traveling to an Alternate Draenor, the forces of Azeroth saved the acolyte Yrel from the Iron Horde. With their aid, she rose to the rank of Exarch and fought back the demonic invasion of her world. Now, she finds herself where time, space, and dimensions converge: the Nexus.

    Alterac Pass Map
Alterac Pass is an Alertac Valley inspired map, with Vanndar Stormpike and Drek'Thar in place of the normal Cores at each base.

    • The generals charge and whirlwind, but leash if you try to move too far, just like they do in AV.
    • After leashing, the generals will begin to regenerate health.
    • For each keep you destroy, the generals will lose some armor.
    • Each team has prison camp objectives on the opposite faction's side of the map.
    • You must channel to start the prisoner escape and then maintain control until they escape. A single click will stop the escape, so enemy players must be kept away from the camps.
    • After the prisoner escapes, a Cavalry will be summoned in each lane.
    • The cavalry will grant increased damage and movement speed to nearby allied heroes and minions. This bonus increases with each subsequent objective completion within a game.
    • The map also has two Gnoll siege camps and two Ice Giant boss camps.
    • The Gnolls have a cleave attack and stacking armor debuff to damaged targets.
    • The Ice Giants are similar to the Grave Golems on Cursed Hollow, but have an Ice Shard ability that will damage and slow in an area.
    • There are mud pits around the objective area, which have a stacking movement speed debuff that is applied while you stand in them.

I thought the split in to wow, hots and overwatch parts was specifically so that we don't have to see this spam?

Yrel model is horrible. Wtf is that dwarf draenei creature they made and called Yrel? Event looks decent but god damnit, that Yrel model is an abomination.

Its funny when the HotS team is more in tune with what PvP should be than the Current WoW team. Hopefully this renewed interest in AV translates into BFA and we see a revamp/revival of the actual Alterac Valley.

It just goes to show you how much old WoW zones would benefit from a simple graphical passover. Even if all they did was swap out the textures and maybe rebuild the doodads (trees, ground items, buildings), it would look and feel like a whole new game.

At first I felt the same, but that's because she doesn't use the generic Draenei model and they tried to make her look different. It will take a bit of time to get used to.

The Spirit Healer is neutral, but Valeera is loyal to the Alliance despite being a Blood Elf due to past associations with Varian.

The Spirit Healer is probably there just because it's blue and Blizzard thought it fits and Valeera is on the Alliance team because.. she's Alliance?

That's the best one. WC2 goblin sappers were awesome. Hopefully they change his voice to sound like goblin sappers.

So we finally get a Draenei in HotS... and it has to be literally the shittiest one character-wise. Thanks Blizz it's not like Maraad has been around since TBC and has a personality beyond being a generic goody-two-shoes waifu paladin

But she's not Alliance, she makes that very clear at various points throughout her story. Heck, just look at the quote they used on the poster with her, she's even saying she's neutral there and yet they put her on the Alliance?
