    Preditions: Grind

For those who may not know, GRIND was what you did in vanilla. You would take a gathering profession -or two- and grind on mobs/areas for hours as to afford mount and consumable and turn a profit. From the early copper/linen/wool farming to the late 30's Earth Elemental to 40'sh and then more mats -Felcloth/Mooncloth- and so on.

While people expect to 'grind' those who have not experienced the amount of it will not be too happy.

    Predictions:

How do you think many/most of today's gamers will take the amount of grind needed in Vanilla?

I can only speak for myself but all that grinding is the reason I won't be investing any serious time into Classic. I don't even "grind" on retail anymore.

Lets be honest here, classic is being made for all those people who fill up the pirate servers for years and still love it, I don't think is blizzard should be concerned about attracting ''gamers of today'' nor should we.

Let's be honest here, A lot of the people that fill up those Pirate Servers only do because they are free. People greatly overestimate just how many of them would actually pay a proper sub to play a "real" Classic.

What if Blizz gave Vanilla access free with every active retail sub?

People would either complain they are forced to be subbed to something they "hate" to play Classic. Or people will complain the Money they pay for Retail is getting wasted supporting Classic.

I foresee there being either a subbed for Either or both together as a slightly reduced price double Bundle

I think Blizz will launch with BWL/DM? If so the economy is going to be flooded with Gold .. I'm seriously thinking about a Mage gold farming toon.

pre DM (Dire Maul) I would have gone with hunter and take people on Princess runs (about 50g and hour).

I think the majority would feel $15 for both Live and Classic seems like a deal, even if they play one more than the other (or just play one).

Grinding is a relaxing activity to do while watching a movie on the other monitor, listening to a good audio book, talking to friends on discord, etc. I enjoy farming herbs in retail, but its not nearly as rewarding as grinding in Vanilla.

agreed....grinding was good for some things esp when you didnt feel like doing anything but running around and grabbing shit in a mindless way...make grinding great again!

    This

Blizzard has already said that the game is not for everyone, and that it's mainly being made as a "preservation of history" type of thing.

Obviously nobody has statistics but in most cases if someone was playing wow back in 2004 they are likely old enough where they are working and can afford to pay for video games, I don't think the "it was free" card really works here.

The thorium farm for me was a daily routine...

I would dream the Burning Steppes sometimes...

I remember grinding about 6-7 hours because I ran out of quests around level 43 - 44? Somewhere around there. Anyway, it was awful...
I also remember farming 5 man dungeons constantly with the guild to gear gear for molten core, each run taking 40+ mins only to have people leave the guild when they geared up to join better guilds so it wasted everyone's time.

    Yay.

Grinding is great when you have your head on straight for it. I once leveled a character from 1 to 85 strictly by killing mobs, gathering and mining. I didn't rush it or anything but when you want to turn off your brain grinding is a good way to go.

Let's be honest, most of those people are over 25 and they definitely not concerned about playing $15/month. Not to mention some of those servers actually have paid services that people are spending a lot more than $15/month on.

It's hard being a noob, I get that. There is no reason for being a noob these days when you can actually look up anything.

I highly doubt they are going to leave droprates unchanged.

Prediction: botters/farmers will be rampant, and widely used.

Farmed the hell out of felcloth in vanilla (Winterspring and Azshara) and you couldn’t pay me to grind all that out again just to have epic riding.

That's one of the reasons why they want to implement classic on the new infrastructure. So they have access to current wow's anti-cheating and botting systems.
