People are brainwashed in terms of the corporations have figured out how to take advantage of people's NEED to be social.
Why do you think people can't let go of their social media accounts/smart phones but can't explain why? Usually you can tell someone exactly why you can't let go of something in less than 1 second.
But for some reason with new technology, people can't really tell you.
I think it's either because they're in denial about how dependent/in love they are with technology and material or they simply just don't know, aka, brain washed.

No, everything bad or good happens because of human choice based on knowledge not lack thereof. It's not mind control it's simply making a choice despite facts or reality. I was just recently thinking about how much programming there is on Netflix and how people binge watch, I have binge watched. I was telling a friend the other day I have been avoiding watching shows just because I don't want to spend my day absorbing great content and not knowing what the real world is like anymore.

Brainwashed? About 15 years ago I would have answered no but lately too many people put their political identity ahead of their identity as a person. They say just what others tell them is true without thinking for themselves and sadly that style of blind obedience is starting to filter into other areas.
