The only studies we have on this across several countries contradicts your claim. It can creep you out all it wants but that doesn’t change the stats or what happened. I had the same negative opinion in regards to Tokyo law years ago. Eventually Tokyo changes the law which I felt was a good thing and then the number of rapes began to skyrocket. Which points to the porn being used as a way to abstain. This is the same thing the study looking at several European countries found. How do you refute that? Your and my disgust means NOTHING if it means we’re on a side that leads to more abuse.

So I never expected to be in this situation

A close friend I have known for a few years went through some "family stuff" last summer and disappeared from the grid for a few weeks worrying everyone. He reappeared and we spent the summer hanging out and being in a volleyball league together.

A few months later in summer I get a text from him. In the message he told me he got busted for child porn and will be going away for a while. I haven't heard from him since. The few articles I have found indicate that his disappearance seems to coincide with his bust.

This young man is in his early 20s, attractive, good career, all around good and genuine person. I care about him as a friend but this is pretty terrible.

A mutual friend went and visited him in jail (I think he is awaiting trial. I'm not sure but I check court records often and haven't seen anything). He is being held about an hour away from me. Do I go visit to show my support even though this is a horrible thing?

I mean I guess he has a real problem and he needs help. I don't know what to do.

Seriously. This is not the place. Changes in law enforcement can be a big change. You need to study some criminology. To put it very simply when law enforcement look for crimes more they find more of those crimes. Say a government is saying "lets crack down on child abuse crimes." They will find more of them because they dedicate more resources to them.

Government always cracked down on crime though is the point in Japan. They always went after rings and abusers, they just didn't go after the people who simply viewed. So if you had new things cropping up in people who were viewing they would track down who made it and arrest those people.

In this case they went from cracking down on producers, to cracking down on viewers.

Tell me this, if you dedicated more time to finding people watching and less to people making is it not feasible that you will end up missing more people who are making as now you're focusing more on people watching?

If you have a police force of 100 seeking out an destroying producers and now you have the same force of 100 but now 60 of them are looking for people watching and 40 for people producing... that you'll have more producers getting away with the crimes?

Prison is a boring place. Looking at someone wrong will probably start an automatic fight, but you want to walk in and be like, "hey guys wanna talk about the time i fucked a 16 year old! It's ok I was only 20". I definitely recommend this strat for you.
