No Layers Petition

You are missing the most important part of layering.

Imagine a realm with 10,000 people. Two months after launch 80% of the people can't take it (casuals right) & quit. Now you are on a realm with only 2,000 people so it is not very vibrant.

Now if that realm had 10 layers (instead of 10 different realms) when the 80% quit on each layer, the layers would be merged & you would have a realm with 10,000 active players. Much better.

Best thing is, you would not really notice the change, apart from having more people to play with.

To have any impact, you would need at least 10,000 signatures if not more. Layering is there for a reason and there is no problem with it as long as it does not remain in Classic for rest of its life.

That petition not gonna change a thing. Blizzard worked hard to comee up with some better alternative for sharding. So basicly you have to choose either layering or sharding. And the first option is the lesser of two evils. Also each layer will have capacity of original vanilla realm, so they won't be deserted. They are aware that initial interest for Classic at launch will be much higher than the population that will remain. Using layering they won't end up with a situation where majorty of servers after a month are deserted.



Aren't you aware that you are talking about sharding and not layering? Layering applies to whole continents, while sharding works per zone.
