From reading the page it seems they aren't employees. It's more like a bar or izakaya but you sit in women men pairs. Women don't have to pay anything, eat and drink how much they like while the guy pays. Sounds rather depressing to me.

haha no. The girls DON"T get paid. They get drinks/food paid for by the guy*s* at the table. The girls have no obligation to stay and can leave at any time. You can see the appeal for girls to come to a place like this. It's the sad level of human interaction I've come to expect from Asia.

I very much doubt many of them will find a potential dating partner that way. This is more an extension of already vile practices on dating apps, here the bots are just replaced with professional people that will do even less than an escort. I can absolutely see there being a market for this, but my god, at some point you'd have to realize that just watching a food streamer or fondling your anime-waifu JPEG is probably more economic than getting ripped off for the most basic level of human interaction.

They are not employed by aisekiya. They enter on their own volition. How it works, pair or group of guys go into the place and given a card. Girls walk in and are seated next to them. They can come and go anytime with no obligation to stay.

Btw, did the company that owns the IP ever say anything about the guy?

Things which I think have some actual influence is the 10s of millions discrepancy between woman and men of certain age ranges in china, which spawn trends like sharing a wife among the poor. Or the overall poisoned gender dynamic in Japan as a whole with all the other issues they face as a society.

Its normal thing in Japan. I think a problem in the first date can be a time filled with stress and insecurities. I would advise reading www.happymatches.com/blog/online-dating/first-date-tips I can suggest if a person doesn’t know the other person very well yet and don’t know what they’re expecting or how to act around them. Isn't this pretty similar to nightclubs? Cover charge for the guys, girls get in for free? It's just a bit more structured.

Also I think a lot of dating/hookup websites charge for guys but not girls (eg Ashley Madison), so just think of this as the analogue equivalent of internet dating.
