WHO has no authority over nations and no nation has authority over WHO. USA closed its borders for travels from china as early as February, 3, if everyone would have just followed the virus would have been safely contained within china. Instead of that, corrupt media outlets were squirming, whining and seething about how racist it is (in between the lines protecting business interests of their owners not willing to halt their business with china even at the cost of many lives)

It was China however whose leadership lied about and tried to hide the virus after allowing it to spread unchecked internally. The thread should be closed but if we're going to nation bash, let's bash in the right direction. That other nations made mistakes should not be ignored, and I hope we all learn from this. But we should also be paying attention to what China has done and how they are still responding (still lying, still trying to deflect blame). The worship for authoritarianism ITT is disgusting, not least because authoritarian governments are shitty and weak.

The failure of other nations though was expected. After all the only government that actually knew how contagions this disease is was the Chinese government, everybody else kind of started to understand this just two weeks ago when it started to spread in Italy. Corona is an first time a disease has spread so rapidly in a really long time, the other diseases were never this bad and if there where it was decades/centuries ago.

What you can blame individual governments is stupid decisions like Trump mass restriction of flights from Europe to the US for non US citizens. If only 1 person at a airport was sick you now probably have a dozen at least (if your lucky).
Belgium government that announced closing down pups etc without talking things over with there neighbouring country (Netherlands)

This isn't true. Italy was one of the first countries to shut down flights from China and infected Chinese tourists simply came in from other countries in addition to infected Italian/EU nationals coming back from China or other infected regions. If instead of blocking flights they had screened people they would have caught more cases coming into the country.

Well given that this virus has spread to basically the world clearly they did nothing to contain it. After the fact they worked to handle their outbreak to burn it out but there was no containment.
