So it seems that Marvel has completely given up. I fully expect this series to completely bomb.

Disney and Marvel dont care about the comics really anymore, beyond using them as idea generation to be made into films and merchandise later.
That being said havent there always been good and bad comics at basically every stage in thier existences?
Admittedly this looks bad, its also two months old, primarily because the names of the characters are cringy. Dont read it and find a better marvel comic line.
"Snowflake & Safespace" lmao.

All this has pretty much been covered in the big Marvel thread already, just FYI.
I am not really bothered by companies trying to bring in a more varied "representation" of characters and I understand that to do this sometimes you need to take creative risks.
This on the face of it though doesn't look good at all. I prefer trying something new to just doing a characteristic swap of an existing character (I just find this lazy most of the time), but on the face of it, this makes me think they aren't even trying or have a very shallow concept of representation, or are aiming it at an incredibly small audience which would make me question their business sense.
I don't think people are bothered by them trying to introduce diversity.
They're bothered by HOW they're doing it.
"Look at us we're Oppressed Minority Dude and Mental-Illness-Is-a-Real-Problem Girl!" is just not a good way to do it. Turning diversity into caricatures is perhaps not the best road towards a new normal.
There's a lot of problems with this idea, least of which is the rather pathetic insults toward the LGBT community and non binary people with such pedantic names as Snowflake and Safespace. Those terms are derogatory, there's a reason why we use them, because it implies that the individual being insulted is effectively being a pansy and acting like a child. No, SJWs, you aren't going to claim our slang for yourselves.
Not to mention the whole point of comics and super heroes is to suspend disbelief. It's pretty hard to do that when all of these characters have absolutely stupid back stories to them. Not to mention comic book heroes always have some invariably flawed characteristic about them, and none of their powers can be tied back to real life aside from Tony Stark being a genius and creating the Iron Man suit.
Yup. Not really sure who this comic is meant to be for, exactly. The names make it seem like it's meant to be a tongue in cheek parody series, but they're talking about it like it's a serious comic. But if it IS, then they really need to rework it, because it's so over the top that most people I know in the LGBT+ community find the whole thing a little insulting.
If this book makes it out of it's initial run, I'll be VERY surprised.

Original New Warriors:
D-Tier Superhero Team
New New Warriors:
D-Tier Superhero Team
I'm not seeing the difference.
However every D-Tier Superhero team should get its day in the sun. Sometimes magic happens.
Yes, I deliberately picked a scene with a black lady to trigger all the forum nazis.
My option hasn’t changed at all since this was originally announced.
The names are stupid.
A couple of bad series/ideas don’t reflect on the broader scope of marvel.
The powers have all be done before and could in theory be done well here even with the stupid names.
New warriors were always a crap team.
I like B negative as he looks like he stepped right out of Ghost rider.
I thought this was old news (2 months old at least) since I saw the trailer then as well, but I checked the date and it's uploaded on May 17th? Huh. The video's unchanged as well.
I don't really read comic books or anything so I'm out of the loop with pmuch anything, however I feel like if diversity is what they strived for, they could've done it in so much better ways. IMO, they're more of a mockery of diversity - Snowflake and Safespace?
Though IMO those two aren't even the worst characters as IMO the problem with them is only the looks (the uniforms look very bland and boring) and names, whereas with the other characters, their stories are so dumb. Internet gas? Magic backpack? It's so very stupid.
I want to see more diverse representation in media as well, but I'm not sure how they managed to miss the mark by such a mile. I'm quite sure most of the nonbinary communities feel rather offended that the first(ish?) character they get is this. I'd feel angry too.
EDIT: I also worry that since I'm 100% sure this comic is going to perform terribly, it'll signal Marvel that diversity is not the way to go/have them go to the other extremes.
This was talked about on the Marvel megathread 3 months ago.

in before lock.
As much as people say this is the death of comics blah blah, this is the first and most I've heard of the 'New Warriors' in ever. And in today's world, controversy is better than obscurity. No such thing as bad publicity, as they say. Maybe this could generate interest in a new audience, good for them.
The problem is that none of the "heroes" powers are even, ya know, marvelous. I mean, I think the only shit that comes out of that backpack is an endless buffet of food. The power to basically Google shit? Hold on guys, let me get out my phone and I'll check Google for a solution to the problem. And what the fuck is Internet gas? Humanity knows what the fuck the internet is, we've known about it since the troll who came up with this comic was still latched onto his mother's tits. That's zero excuse to create such a shitty set of characters.
I know it's so hard that all the good ideas have been taken, but come on, this clown didn't even try to make characters that people can fall in love with. And that's been the problem with identity politics in media the last several years. These characters are pedantic for one, and secondly, they are tokenism. You wonder why people laugh at social justice warriors and get pissed off when people who've forced their agendas into our entertainment? Because this is the half baked result that we always get. Not to mention, we don't care about characters identities, it isn't what makes us love them, it's their personalities, their strengths and weaknesses while having the ability to show humanity interwoven with their greatness. Part of what makes super heroes loved is that they are great, but they have flaws, but they are self aware enough to actually try and overcome those flaws and failures.
