EU login servers down for most of the day!!!

How the f*** is it possible, after 16 years, that on the pre-patch day, the European server is down, that is, login is impossible. It is really shameful for such a company to allow this to happen over and over.

I installed and prepped everything during my lunchbreak and tested to see if it worked - it did.
Now I'm done working and try logging in and I'm in a 40.000 minute waiting queue. This shit is unreal.

Games like PoE that spike a hundred times harder than WoW does handle it just fine. It's not like there is no way around it.

happens every major patch, especially worse on pre-expansion patches and on expansion launch days. all your addons will be a mess too, even if you updated them (this time with the extra bonus of twitch being buggered up too) all of your favourites won't have been updated yet
none of this is unusual (well, the twitch thing is new) or surprising

I would guess it has something to do with the supposed strike at the Versailles Blizz office (Customer Support in EU among other things) for not getting canned.

If that's true, then solidarity with the striking workers.
