People realized that Bfa was horrible trash after the first month. We will see how Shadowlands fares after leveling when the end game systems are exposed.
The leveling experience, albeit a bit slow at times due to all the escorting we have to do, was fun.
Covenants are not as bad as expected, but still leave a sour taste.
World quests went trough a bit of a change; last 2 expansions they were practically just 1 objective, but now most of them come with 2-3 phases, for instance:
1. bomb mobs from a flying taxi
2. destroy a crystal from the flying taxi
3. kill boss atop the tower
Dungeons are very enjoyable. Covenant bonuses provide some interesting interactions
Torghast seems challenging enough (layer 2 final boss at ilvl 155 was quite stressful... while the rest of the place wasn't really).
The maw feels just odd.
Overall it's pretty much an experience alike that of the last few expansions, which doesn't tell much.
The 1st week in all of them actually felt great. Let's see how well it ages...

Too early to tell but I can tell you this: Im at work and cant wait to get home and play. During BfA the aim with leveling was to get to max level asap. Now I realized Im in no rush to reach 60 as I wanna see what every thing has to offer. Just being able to sell my crafted stuff on AH is a huge plus.
hell naw, its more of the same masked behind new systems.
look some things are ncie right, but there are fundemental problems with RETAIL that just make it go thru the same problems again and again.
The actual content isnt the problem, the problem is the design.
So pretty much everything is the same as BfA but a bit worse.
Systems like Renown/anima is basically more convoluted version of AP (convoluted, not complex, if it would be more complex i would be actually glad).
Leveling was ok (funny I didn't realize i never picked any talent till it was over). Story was somewhat entertaining.
Normal dungeons are still a joke (they should just rename it to "easy"), all you need is either a mouse or keyboard (no need for both).
Covenant upgrades are missed opportunity (this should be a choice, not a "bar to fill")
Maw was suppose to be dangerous yet i was chillin' at eye of jailer level 5 first day, just had to eat old food when it drained my hp (healing was suppose to be reduced by 100% but food still works).
Loot is extremely boring. And I very much dislike shift towards weekly lottery.
It's a new expansion. The problem is, it feels and plays exactly like BfA, even with Covenants. And that's the main issue with WoW at the moment. It worked great in Legion because it was fresh and innovative for WoW standards. It became stale in BfA and it didn't change or greatly improve in Shadowlands and that's why it's just the same with a different paint. It won't please players for too long, unfortunately. In 4 weeks it will exactly feel like the daily routine you had in BfA although Shadowlands is only one month old. This kind of gameplay without innovation or deviation just isn't working anymore, it's been this for 4 years now and needs some major adjustments and changes.

MAGA - Make Alliance Great Again
So far I'm having a blast with the druid night fae ability and everything else is pretty good. It's a bit early to tell though, we'll see how it feels once we're in Nathria.
Was sure I would hate Torghast.
Actually, it's the most fun I've had in WoW
Yeah I'm enjoying the story. More interesting than Horde vs Alliance.
So far at lvl 56 in Ardenweald:
1. Maw - copy/paste of DH starting area, bland and forgettable, gameplay is very much Diablo 3, even dmg numbers on mobs are D3 like, dropping like gold from mobs
2. Bastion - angels with wings, cmon, such a sterotype, blurry graphics of grass, it is like fog is always there, where is that crip and sharp graphics of Drustvar and Boralus, story too short and too fast
3. Maradraxxus - fine area, good quests and story, forgettable NPCs, story goes too fast
4. Ardenweald - starts with butterfly NPCs, cmon, wow was never for 9yolds
All in all, worst leveling experience ever...Drustwar or Hiowling fjord is still best for me
Guess Im too old for this, this is made for much younger generations...which is natural really, WoW needs to evolve, worse for me and better for some others
Considering how negative to almost anything wow-related these forum users are, the results of this poll are amazing.
Personally, it's absolutely amazing - so far. We will see in a month if that still holds.
It's better than MoP. The only standout zone in Pandaria was Jade Forest; all four Shadowlands leveling zones are fantastic. MoP at max level on release was a daily quest grindfest that people hated. And Shadowlands class gameplay is just as fun as MoP imo, except without the homogenization.
MoP is the most nostalgia-goggles expansion of all time.
Yeah, VA was a nice touch. Though at some points I really thought they could have used some better voice actors. The Abominations in Maldraxxus did not sound very... scary. They sounded pretty human, could have used a lot more grunting. And the one fairy in Ardenwald really threw me off in the first cutscene with the winter queen by lisping incredibly hard. Things like that were all over the campaign.
Yes, the VA was a huge upgrade for the questing experience, but Blizz has room to improve here.

No, you would not be that much wiser if you had played through Drustvar. The origin of the Drust were not explained there and probably will be part of the ardenweald covenant campaign. I assume.
