People are citing different reasons because there many different reasons, which is more evidence, not less. None of what you said is an argument against it.

Except, those "different reasons" don't make any sense. One dude tried to say it was average of productivity compared to the falling value based on inflation over time.

I get trying to say it's linked to a "Living wage" and only that, because that is actually coherent. Now, I may strongly disagree with how they got to that number, but at least it's a logical, coherent argument to make.

When it was originally written, it was supposed to increase based on the increased cost of living, which would mean it was never close to $15 an hour, and which is why $11 is a much easier sell.
