Did something happen with Sharding? Oribos is packed full of players onscreen

I play since Shadowlands release and i never saw Oribos or anything THIS busy and packed with players on screen.
Not even on reset day on the vault.

I noticed this yesterday at a random hour too...now, randomly, Oribos has a lot of players at the same time on screen.

And today i never seen the Vault this packed.

I play on a Low Population server too...Boulderfist (EU)

Yeah but...Sharding usually keeps us separated...
There are at least 50+ players on my screen right now.

I cant even see the Vault

I am a little bit bit confused. Didn't they ask us to support the walk out by not playing any blizzard title today? I mean I don't mind any of the actions either standing there or not playing but I would like to know what the plan is

Is that packed? LOL. See Karazhan entrance on reset day evenings.

Shadowlands players immediately think something is wrong if they see more than 5 characters in their screen

I guess there is some limitation at how many shards there can be for each zone.

Yeah this. That's the most players you'll see in the same screen in a week in Shadowlands unless you're queueing epic bgs.

I remember perfectly Shadowlands release day.
There we threads created saying you would barely see anyone on screen...and i experienced the same.

So on release day the game was heavily sharded, i remember

    BUT

For some reason, since a couple days ago, im seeing a lot of player onscreen at the same time :O
I even randomly brought this up to friends yesterday on discord and showd a print screen with Oribos randomly heavily populated

Today was just insane on the Vault

I actually noticed this as well, but it was this morning at 4am, so before reset... there were more people in Oribos than when I'd logged off Tuesday evening.

Eh, just balancing functioning as it should. It isn't that many.

I am guessing one of the support groups? Dunno.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

They should make bigger shards. WoW often looks empty when it's not. And don't start with - "but its empty lol" - I felt I play almost single player game on RELEASE DAY.

    Looks normal to me.

Since the outcome of sharding is completely transparent to us, the technology behind it isn't.

    So that means either:
    a) They increased the possible amount of players in a shard (or the Oribos shard in particular)
    b) They reduced the amount of concurrent shards (or the Oribos shard in particular), forcing more players into one
    c) They adapted your server/server group to include more players
    d) You are mistaken

For reference I am playing on a "locked" server, and yesterday I remembered I had to complete the tormentors event in the maw at 11pm, and in my shard there were only a handful people there. But since the lfg tool still had many groups listed I conclude that the shards still are kept rather small. But who knows, perhaps they simply reduced the amount of available Oribos shards to free ressources for more Maw shards.

At any time on wednesdays it is like this. And my server is low/medium.
