Blizzard Is Changing the Names of the Twin Consorts and the Love Rocket

They change the Love Rocket to Heartbreaker, and the Twin Consorts to the Twin Empyreans. Apparently riding someone's Love Rocket is too lewd, the icon kind of looks like a dick, and the word consort maybe makes it sound like they are just the objects of lust for some male mogu.

This on top of all the name changes, like Mac'Aree to Eredath, the removal of NPCs, or the changing of the "lewd" paintings.

Does this look like the Streisand effect could apply here?

Has anyone even thought of the Twin Consorts in the last decade? Was anyone offended by the name?

Looks like Blizzard is washing their hands of what some people now allege they've been guilty of.

If they want to clean up the game of all the sexual content, they gotta dig deeper than that, though. Think about Mother Shahraz and her sexual comments. Think about the steamy romance novels, where the sexual encounters of a Stormwind soldier with Pandaren and Gnome women are described. Or the sexual innuendos in the Hodir quests, such as "Thrusting the Spear", "Polishing the Helmet" and "Blowing Hodir's Horn".

Blizzard can't stop now. They've got work to do.

Honestly all female characters should be forced to wear burkas. Just in case.

They have to make an effort to soften the possible outcomes of the lawsuit. What they're doing is low effort, easy and visible.

People are making mountains out of molehills to be honest. It's all of this intense outrage over a lot of nothing. No one is going to remember or even much care once the next outrage rolls around.

It's all about the lawsuit, they need to show they're being a good boy. It's all so inconsequential for us average gamers though.

Personally I just find it utterly ridiculous and feel a strange feeling of pride knowing I'm not in any way supporting this company anymore. Can't say it's because of this whole drama, if I had to guess it's that I'm just bored of their utter garbage products.

I like the way they are going. The solution to workplace harassment of women is to stop hiring women, duh!

agree, they can use MK11 as reference, at least at its launch

Like I said, Streisand effect. No one was even thinking of any of these things. Were there any complaints about Mac'Aree being named after a guy, who was in a picture? Any complaints about the Love Rocket? They are bringing things up people haven't even thought about, and it creates negative feelings towards the company instead of positive ones, because people are either annoyed with the changes, and don't see the sense in it, or they are being reminded that these things existed to begin with.

Meanwhile Quinton Flynn's voice was purged from the game, even though he's been found innocent and it turned out the woman, who accused him, was stalking him. Madeleine Roux still has a tribute NPC in the game, even though she literally said "white people must be stopped" and all other sorts of hateful things about white men.

They're not doing this to please the 'woke' crowd that the outrage crowd keeps thinking is responsible for everything (including the extinction of dinosaurs). They're doing it in order to make themselves look less 'lecherous' during any investigations into the company's behaviour.

    Won't help, but they're trying. It's just over-corrective stupidity.

Not gonna lie them being consorts seemed...weird

They were literally the ONLY female mogu we've ever seen and shown they reproduce by building statues of eachother. Hell the description clearly states lei shin made them to be guards

And again, do you think the people investigating this case would have known or cared about the Love Rocket having an icon that kind of looks like a penis?

Or do you maybe think, that if anything, through this change, they now know about it, when otherwise they wouldn't have?

These changes, if anything, bring these things to the attention of these people, so it would be better to just do nothing.

Do you think, that when supervisors knew about the harassment of women at Blizzard, and encouraged it, that some name and icon changes in the game will have some effect on the lawsuit? Like the people in charge of the lawsuit will go "you've clearly changed your ways, this is all we wanted to see".

Blizzard has been doing these things even before the lawsuit, with removing the word bitch from Garrosh's lines and covering up Sylvanas' belly.

All the better reason to make a bigger outrage, we shouldn't leave it buried in the history, under a pile of other lackluster outrages. Let this one be an outrage for the ages, that other outrages can only aspire to! And if that cannot be achieved, we should brew this outrage as much as possible, while it's still young.

Also, every single of those little pious changes is funny on their own. Like, come on, this is good comedy. Imagine telling a friend about WoW, and he asks you what are the latest updates to the game. "Ah, just so much good change. Tiddies on one blurry painting were covered, there's a zone that's not named like a cowboy anymore, and that rocket that looked like a penis if you squinted really hard? Well, it still does, but its icon doesn't!".

To me, it sounds like Blizzard's attempt at translating their process to the player base of what is going on within the company without revealing things they are not permitted to.

As for the name changes of locations and NPCs, that one is obvious, and you should know that by now too with the recent news.

As for your three quest examples, those terms can be seen as innuendos but they are also actual phrases to use.
FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..

You also have to keep in mind, that these things won't just go away. The voiceline, where Garrosh says bitch, is out there. Quinton Flynn's contribution is out there. The Love Rocket icon will not be deleted from the internet. People will still think of the bosses as the Twin Consorts. It won't change, just because Blizzard thinks it makes them look bad. The internet won't let people forget.

No, it won't go away but it'll sweep at their door, whether people choose to dig in the bins, that is their issue.

And Consort and Love Rocket are also words you can use, what's your point?

If Love Rocket is a problem, because of the sexual innuendo, how could "Blowing Hodir's Horn" not be? There's tons of more stuff like that in the game. Like I said, their work is only just beginning.

It'll only bring it to the forefront, because no one ever even thought about these things as being a problem, and people still don't. But now it's on everyone's mind.

See this thread for proof. This thread wouldn't exist had Blizzard not decided to remind people of these things.

One thing is deliberate innuendos, and another is what people see. It is a company, it is their products, this shit is happening because a lot of the veterans fucked up, and now we're seeing the changes. The name changes of the Twin Consorts most likely happened because idiots think only sexual even though Mogu can't do that shit, and Love Rocket, well, that is a no-brainer. Their new names do not break what they are either, the new names do not change their meaning.

As for "Blowing Hodir's Horn", you are literally blowing a horn, Hodir's horn. What would you call it else? "Send the dead away (Oh, and ignore the fact that the main part of the story is for you to ferry them away by blowing an actual horn)"?

It sucks that the game has to suffer from these idiotic changes because of all the bad things Blizzard did to themselves. This is all just a poor attempt to make Blizzard look like they actually care and to soften the blow from the lawsuits.

You can't appease SJWs. They don't want solutions to their perceived problems, they want to be mad
