1. not that i know of, and if it is they had to have not played since pre cata
2. no you dont wtf? where did you get this info that every 3 months you get 7 days free...

Pretty sure the info was once correct albeit most probably very old and out dated info, thanks anyway

They still through out free days every once in a while. Last year I took a break and cancelled account around beginning of May (subscription expired at end of May), then got 7 free days when 7.2.5 patch (the small Chromie scenario one) hit around mid-June. This also happened during WoD and MoP, provided that my account was inactive when the patch hit.

Last time I got an actual scroll of resurrection (i.e a friend sending you an invite to return) was in late Cata. It looks like it was removed in MoP.

Send them a mail with some sad story and ask. They usually give 3 to 7 days when you ask them.
