The problem is overlapping pve and pvp reward systems. Pve reward systems in today's wow constitute nothing short of a meticulously calculated and designed casino that shamelessly aims to cyclically retain and occupy players for very specific periods of time. In order to facilitate the casino, pvp reward systems had to go away, and they did. Blizzard has even openly talked about this to my shock.

To make matters worse, Blizzard is not above deceiving us to placate us. We have a "conquest" pvp reward system right now in bfa. Basically I would hold your excitement for "conquest points" in shadowlands.

I don't think the term "selfish" applies to video games and what you said doesn't even make sense. If you cleared the raid, it means everyone else in the group cleared it as well.

I mean maybe it's just me but I don't get this do x to do x more thing at all. Say if you enjoy both PvP and PvE. You raid, you beat the final mythic boss and then what? you're done. Why would you go raid it again? However, with this crossover, you can still raid more to gear up more and then use that gear to go ganking or do casual BGs.
Problem is if best in slot gear or abilities for pvp comes from pvp. As in right now for a lot of essences in pvp you have to do raid and general pve. As a pure pvp player that is not fun for me. Think about it this way if optimal abilities and gear for pve were gated behind pvp ranking, how outraged raiders would be.

My point is of course people who pve should be able to use the same gear for pvp and vise versa but BiS gear and abilities should come from pvp. Nobody should be forced to do content they don't enjoy.
