    ~$6000 PC budget..opinions

Well title says it. I dont want to go into reasons behind the amount or how/why I would spend that much but I am going to do it and it's for something

Now this budget includes the entire computer/monitors(3 or 2)/keyboard/mouse/headset/speakers... I do not want to liquid cool and have no intensions to do it either. I know there are some new cpu's/gpu's coming out hopefully before summer because that is when I will complete my build. I am wanting to get together most of it and see what all I can do. Any opinions on whats best or what you like personally is for sure welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

    Voor

Also, if you have opinions on gaming chair/desk im up for those. Dont necessarily have to be in that budget up there.

I guess I didnt realize he had put together a new build. Is his spec's on his page?

Also, think its worth waiting for ivybridge/keplar or whatever new stuff is coming. I wont be purchasing everything for a few months. I can start getting certain things already though.

    Thanks

If you're not buying for a few months, it's pointless to speculate right now. Everything will have changed by the time you're ready to buy. Just wait until you're ready to pull the trigger. You're also going to have to provide some sort of target usage for the computer or nobody will know what to recommend.

What the hell would you do with 32GB of memory? Running a server perhaps.
16GB would be more than enought with a gaming rig.

Regardless of what you spend, make sure to by quality parts that will last you through multiple systems:
    Case
    PSU
Monitors (3 would be optimal for gaming).

I honestly do not think you will hit $6,000 even with amazing components. If you know just a tad bit on how to overclock you can save $$.
If you want to hit that $6,000 then you should invest in amazing sound system too. Bring those games to life.

Sounds like a possible upcoming SR-3 build.

Ya i understand things will change/come out. But cases/psu's/ssd's/monitors/headsets/speakers/and other things I can get opinions on. Obviously if IVYbridge and the new nvidia gpu's come out and are beasts then I will just go that route.

I will be gaming on this and want it to last several cycles. I play BF3 atm, will play GW2 and prob several games just to see them on the system. Movies/music are second to gaming. I do not store much on my systems, but not sure about getting massive SSD's for everything???

I don't know what the SR-3 build is either?

    THanks again,

First: A question, where did you come up with $6000? You've asked for two different budget builds in the past. One here and another here.

That being said, if this is legit: I would definitely wait for Ivy Bridge, Kepler and the rest of the AMD/ATI 7xxx series; that being said...

If I had (i.e. gun to my head) to spend close to $6000 on a PC, I would do something like this:

Part list permalink / Part price breakdown by merchant
    CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($589.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X79 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard ($324.00 @ NCIX US)
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg)
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($189.99 @ NCIX US)
Hard Drive: Intel 520 Series Cherryville 480GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($999.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card (CrossFire) ($499.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card (CrossFire) ($499.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card (CrossFire) ($499.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Define XL Black Pearl ATX Full Tower Case ($149.99 @ NCIX US)
    Power Supply: SeaSonic 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($260.98 @ NCIX US)
    Optical Drive: LG WH12LS39 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($74.99 @ Newegg)
    Monitor: Dell U2412M 24.0" Monitor ($348.98 @ Newegg)
    Monitor: Dell U2412M 24.0" Monitor ($348.98 @ Newegg)
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K90 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Mouse: Logitech G500 Wired Laser Mouse ($54.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $5232.81

    Notes:
    - For a build like this, a custom liquid cooling system (including aftermarket waterblocks for the GPUs) is really the only option.

The following would be more than enough for any game currently on the market or slated for release in the next year (this is what I would build if I were building a PC right now):

Part list permalink / Part price breakdown by merchant
    CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($84.99 @ Newegg)
    Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($184.99 @ Amazon)
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($129.99 @ Amazon)
    Hard Drive: Crucial M4 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($318.00 @ B&H)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($499.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi Tower ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ NCIX US)
    Power Supply: SeaSonic 850W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($216.98 @ Newegg)
    Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer ($18.99 @ Newegg)
    Monitor: Dell U2412M 24.0" Monitor ($348.98 @ Newegg)
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K90 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Mouse: Logitech G500 Wired Laser Mouse ($54.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $2462.85

    - The 850W PSU for the addition of a second 7950, which I would get within the next year.

The Noctua NH-D14 is absolutely amazing. If you are going air I would recommend that.

If you have 6k, I'm not sure why you'd then settle with air cooling.

Yeah, or even a Corsair H80 like noteworthynerd suggested.

XSPC kit or the like sounds more realistic. heh

I agree, but the OP has obviously never done a custom liquid cooling setup, baby steps guys, baby steps.

This PSU is sexier and full of win

    PSU: SeaSonic Platinum-1000 $260

    And you'll obviously want 3 way SLI/CF.

Meh, I'd rather have the safety of a 1250W Gold PSU than a 1000W Platinum. =P

And 3 way 7970s go over budget. =P I suppose you could downgrade to three 7950s.

6k gives you plenty of room to work with to learn customer liquid cooling. Or even having someone do it for you.

Change the CPU to a 3930K, to be honest the price jump to 3960X isn't worth the extra performance (imo). Yes just stick with 2 x GPU, I kinda missed that OP (at least that's what he says) is serious about it. I know I'm picky but for 2 way that 1000w is enough and it's just sexy as I said =p

Also H100 push/pull with Noctua fans while you're at it.

Not if you get rid off that ridiculous CPU that 3960X is and like, downgrade to 3930X or i7 2600k altogether. And honestly, 850 watts would be fine for crossfire so 1000W platinum over 1200W gold any day .

And as there's still room in budget I'd make that ram 2133 or 1866.
