They've removed all the complexity, choice and theorycrafting, and replaced it with a talent system simple enough for a 2 year old. Count me as unsubscribed when H Deathwing is down.

Talent trees gone and replaced with 9 talent choices? Wow, immense possibilities.

Talents weren't even close to complex to begin with. It doesn't even take theorycrafting... no spec even has enough damage affecting talents that you can't just say "I'm going to take everything that affects damage" and come out with a cookie-cutter spec on your own in 2 minutes.

Theorycrafting and complexity have always been more focused on stats and rotation, and I'll be pretty surprised if that changes.

There has been little real choice for a long time already, so quitting over a lack of choice should have seen you gone long ago.

You need a 4th choice : Still to early to tell.

Some of the talents are getting nerfed or cut right away...you can guess which ones. Doubt I will bother to play this expac.

I looked at most of the lock talents and they seem to be all about regaining health. Sounds like it'd only be useful in pvp..
Can't knock it until you try it...but at the moment i'm not sold.

The talents don't excite me much at all. But then I saw all the issues with the "new" trees for Cataclysm the moment they were released, and frankly they ended up worse than I imagined. I already posted my thoughts on the new talent tree cookie cutters in the other thread; sure there may be some situational changes for the occasional fight like glyphs, but as with those for the most part they're optimised, stuck in and forgotten about. It certainly wont provide this class with the 2 different Destruction locks side by side - on the contrary, it'll be a Destruction Warlock stood side by side with a Demo lock and Affliction lock all with the same talents; I'm yet to be convinced that that could be 'interesting'.

The new secondary mechanics to replace Soul Shards however do look interesting. Impending Doom is effectively reinforced in Demo, which is exactly what I want from the spec, and Destruction gets a variation on Combo points, which again, should add some nice flavour to a spec that I feel is overall currently pretty flat. I feel for those who love Affliction though, "something" with Soul Shards, but no idea what isn't a good place to be at at this point of development.

On balance, I therefore voted indifference. I want more news on our pets though; Sacrifice is a disapointing talent, I really hope it doesn't end up the most optimal of the level 75 talents as having a pet kinda defines the class, and that tier is the only one that may really impact our DPS significantly.

    I'm currently at "Heall yeah!".

My initial reaction was "Hell yeah!", but I'm going to reserve final judgement till the release of the expansion or late into the Beta. As such I don't think voting would do the poll justice.

More choices doesn't mean more complex.

The talents were never complex and there will always be a cookie cutter since simcraft will calculate the best choices for us no matter what they do with the talent tree. This new talent give us the hard choice to pick 1 out of 3 similar and good talent while the old talent, we dont even have any problem picking a talent since they all pretty obvious what they do and which one gives us the best dps increase. And you're so wrong if you think you can figure out the best choice of talent without simming it. Tier 5 of the new talent already creates the question and possibility that certain choice will affect certain spec more than the other two. So I don't see something so childish from the new talent and that pokemon thing is not related to the raid at all, it was built as the other content of the game and who cares? QQ'er I guess.

And NOPE, I'm none of those and I'm still waiting to try it out first before making any decision. I agree the panda and non existing lore related theme seem to be dissapointing since it always be the strong factor of WoW. Other than that we have a very small amount of info and we cant really judge it by this developing state which will be finallized in may be 8-10 more months.

god i cant wait for the expansion now

I like the pet ideas and that's about it. If they were pushing diversity, thats pretty fail what they have so far.

I'm looking forward to 4.3 right now and that may end my WoW career.

I love how people like this live in some fantasy land where every warlock on earth doesn't use the same template for every spec. I am so sorry they shattered your feeble illusion of choice by forcing you to actually make real choices.

Soul Link is crap. You take less damage and you take less healing, meh.

That's essentially how I feel, although with a slightly less aggressive edge to it. I don't think people realize that if every talent combination is viable then that's 3^6 or 729 possible combinations (give or take 3 specializations per class). Now it's naive to think that every single combination will be equally functional, but since the reality right now is that most classes (if they're lucky) get maybe 2-3 choices that's a dramatic increase in diversity.
