Loved the trailer.. cant wait for the game!
Gotta admit, that trailer is the most impressive thing I've seen from SoE in the past 3-5 years or so. Up until now I've been lukewarm about the game (I liked PS1 a lot) based on SoE's record, and while I'm still hesitantly excited, that trailer got me more pumped than anything they've released recently.
Pretty sick trailer from an aesthetic point of view.
It is a bit misleading, however. No one infantryman is going to be jet packing from aircraft to aircraft, making it to a high altitude galaxy, and shooting his little assault rifle through the ceiling to kill everyone inside.
Props to SoE regardless. Let's hope there is a HUGE player base at launch.
Sir Robin, the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot.
Who had nearly fought the Dragon of Angnor.
Who had almost stood up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol.
And who had personally wet himself, at the Battle of Badon Hill.
I'm pretty pumped too. They've been getting back to back "best in show" awards at conventions and events, which is a good sign. Gameinformer-best in show, Gamespy-best shooter, Digital Trends-best MMO, PC Gamer-best shooter, Flesheatingzipper-best MMO, IGN-best in show, Massively-MMO of the show, MMORPG-game of the show, Ten Ton Hammer-best gameplay.

For those who didn't get an email already John Smedley tweeted that the actual beta (not the current Technical Test) should start on either the 30th or the 31st of July. Keep checking those inboxes :3.

I wonder if this game will have any hope of becoming an E-sport. Probably not, as it seems too large and each faction varies on weaponry.
Aye seems unlikely. A vaguely competitive 'scene' did emerge in PS1 after a while where outfits would contact each other and arrange to meet at a quiet base for a squad/platoon vs squad/platoon fight but nothing on an e-sports level.
On a similar note, some of the things that made PS1 so enjoyable were the scoreboards and recognising infamous peoples names while fighting. I remember the player AzK of NC on the Werner server, people would run past other enemies just to get to him as he had the highest kill count on the server. We had a player named Cacus in our outfit (Outcasters) who more kills than any other TR player for quite a while.

Is there any PvE element to this game at all? Or just pure PvP?
I thought it was just one giant persistent world? Hmm. I knew it had continents, but I didn't know they were instanced.
I'm hoping to get in on the beta. I'll keep an eye out for any key contests, because I really want this game.
With it being based on the same planet I would originally guess at 10 continents and 3 sanctuaries but the continent they've revealed, while similar in name and appearence, is different to any in PS1. Perhaps the continents have merged and/or broken apart to form new areas.
On a side note, I hope invites to the Technical Test carry over to the Beta Test.
