So this weeks winning Jumbo Cacpot number was 0001 -,-. Also I'm kinda skeptical about Hildy now in 3.2 since there's half the usual number of quests. Who knows maybe they are 2 really long ones and maybe they aren't.
Hildibrand is one of the best parts about the game, i don't understand how anyone can dislike it.
Half of my hype for this patch is because of Hildibrand.
I just find that sort of humour obnoxious and repetitive. It's alright in small doses but it's precisely the sort of thing that drove me away from WoW. If Hildibrand style quests ever become a common thing outside of his side stories then I'll likely take my leave of the game altogether. I just can't stand it.

Yeah, this.
I like Aurum Vale too - mostly because you can't just switch off and expect to succeed. You need to pay attention to mechanics and so I find it interesting.
Just ignore them dude. Quitting over an optional piece of quest content is silly in my opinion. Not trying to say it's not your choice but still. It's like people who said they would quit over the relic, completely silly reason to do so when you aren't in any way forced to do it.
I do ignore them. I mean if they suddenly decide to add that sort of thing to the MSQ's to the point where it's a common thing. I never liked the excessive pop culture references or 'humour' that WoW embraced, for example, but it was tolerable for me back when it was used sparingly. When entire zones, such as Uldum, became dictated by those references, though? That's when I threw in the towel.
So I just hope FFXIV never goes down that same route. I doubt it will, mind you - because it seems to value storytelling and immersion quite substantially.
Weeeeeell, Godbert is a member of the syndicate so it's possible he at least might show up, but Hildy himself will probably be stuck in verbal mention if Godbert does become relevant.
I prefer the comedic stuff being in the game because it keeps the story from becoming insufferably grimdark. A good example is Blade and Soul, that world is so hopeless and people are so serious/dramatic that about mid 30s I was going "I hate these people, I hate this world, these guys are all assholes, let me kill them myself."
Of course, too much of the opposite is just as bad, like Wildstar. The entire game was pretty much a joke at the expense of itself, it spent so long being "lolbadass" that when it finally decided to take itself seriously I was so far removed from the story I didn't care.
Basically it needs a handy balance of the two, that's why I also liked WoW's story for the most part (and other stuff like One Piece, now that's a franchise that knows how to make mood whiplash work), they don't hesitate to intersparse a serious plot with something silly like putting on a dumb hat and dancing, Uldum aside (which, like Graeham, is a huge sour point of the whole game for me but for different reasons, I didn't care that it was comedic, I cared that it was such a painfully shameless ripoff of RotLA that it ran the entire story to the ground).

That, I think, is why the humor for the Hildirbrand stuff works for me, as it's not using pop culture references to create the humor.
It does use various tropes and archetypes, but it's situational comedy involving the hi-jinks of those particular archetypes - the bumbling inspector and clueless assistant (who are good at heart and occasionally do things right), the hapless individuals caught up in the middle, the capable and serious one who serves as the foil to the bumbling one.
Basically, it's the cast of a sitcom, and their side stories are the episodes.
Of course, not everyone will find it funny, but I personally think it's worlds better than trying to force humor through pop culture references.
Do you all think final fantasy 14 will go free to play if ff15 is gonna be their next big mmorpg
